Does anybody know why dogs eat grass? Mine are all grass eaters! I mean everyday. They will eat grass after just eating, so it cant be because they are hungry. I have heard that they will do that if they have a stomach ache to make themselves throw up, but it is all of them and they do not throw up. None of them have any issues, like not eating or acting wierd. They have always been grass eaters...it drives me crazy, i feel like i am raising cows!! Anyone have any input? Or are there other grazers out there? It is all five of mine, 2 yorkies, 2 beagles and a rat terrier.... |
It was always my understanding that a dog ate grass when it had an upset stomach. Are you sure they are not goats? Maybe it will cut down on the lawnmowing for you.:p |
Pao used to eat grass every single time we went out and sometimes he throws up, other times he doesn't. He only pick the fresh grass and grass that looks like it is dying, he doesn't eat them lol. I can only think that he likes the taste of it. He stopped doing it after I added more vege to his food. Weird.. |

Not sure about the tummy upset as Pao seemed fine and I bought alfalfa for him and gave him a little of it before we go out each time, he stopped eating grass! Go figure. |

I try distracting them with playing catch and all the different games they like to play, but sometimes they are just bound and determined to eat grass...or at least they appear to be eating it...they are definately biting at it...just the green grass... |
eating grass Mine, I make fun of them and say there are grazing. But its usually right before the weather changes or rain comes in. Other than that they don't. Its like they have a upset tummy. Cheryl:animal-pa |
I have that if your dogs eats grass on a regular basis, this could suggest dietary imbalance. Maybe need to change thier diet??? _______________________ I  my Maddie Cakes!! |
Haha, I know this isn't helpful, but Nikko got to taste fresh grass for the first time today (we live in the desert and he's only really ever been on gravel, dead grass, or sand/dirt). There was one lonely little fresh green sprig that popped up on the edge of his pee zone, so of course he had to put it in his mouth, lol. He shook his head and made snort noises like he hated it, like he does with anything we spray bitter apple on, and then went back for another bite. Then another, and another, all the time repeating the "grossed-out" behaviors after every bite. What a little weirdo! Lauren & Nikko |

I think after I gave him the alfalfa (just a few strands each time), I can see the look on his face that the alfalfa tastes much better than grass and he stopped eating grass as long as I gave him some at home each day. Eventually, he stopped eating grass *shrug* but like anything with him, he only likes it for a short period of time. They are just so weird sometimes lol. |
Grass eater too Mine has been eating grass constantly since the snow has melted. Can't get her to stop. So don't feel bad...i too must have a "goat". She also digs constantly which drives me crazy. Not looking forward to the summer if this is what i have to look forward to. |

Help!! Hi, I need help! I have two puppies (5 months) they were doing great with potty training until Thursday that they both got spayed and neutered. Now the boy is pooping in his bed, they share a crate with separate beds. I have no idea what to do. He rings the bell on the door during the day and he has no accidents but at night he is doing it on his bed... Thanks! |
