Is is possible my female could be pregnant? My female starting bleeding on Jan. 29. This is her first heat & everything seemed normal. I have had her put up so that my male would not get ahold of her. A few days ago I brought her out, no bleeding, swelling is going down, she was snapping at the male & I knew it was past the 21 days so with all those signs I thought we were safe. Last night, after 25 days of the first signs of bleeding, my male got tied with her. I have never heard of this before & neither has my vet. Could she get pregnant with it being so long? |
That 21 days is just a general estimate. It is possible that proestrus and estrus could last over 15 days each. It is entirely possible that she is pregnant (which would be unhealthy at her age) or it may be a false pregnancy. Has your vet talked to you about spaying her now? Welcome to YorkieTalk. |
What is your females age? |
8 months old |
I would recommend you talk to your vet and only take thier advice. You will receive a lot of different opinions here and all with good intentions but your vet is the only one who could tell you for sure. Every Yorkie is different. There are a lot of wonderful breeders on here and some have had bad experiences with young moms and some good. However, most of the ones who had a good experience will probably never discuss it openly. Talk to your vet and follow your heart. |

Since my vet has never known this to happen the only thing they suggest is get her spayed & I don't want to do that.:aimeeyork |
At one month from when you believe they tied your vet can do an ultrasound to check for pregnancy. |
