Tooth Extractions - Cost? Riley has a couple retained teeth that need to be extracted. Unfortunately, they came in after he got fixed so I'm wondering how much it will cost and how much you all paid? I know I'm going to have to pay to put him under but around how much did you pay per tooth? I'm going to wait a while to do it as he is only 9 months right now and I think he gets a dental thing anyway at around a year or so. I just wanna know if I need to search for another vet to do it because my current vet charges like $50 per tooth but to put him under and stuff will be at no charge because its included in his plan (what I was told by one of the vet tech's). |
It cost me $5 per tooth, but I did do it when she was put under for the spaying. I'm not sure what it would have cost if they put her under just to extract the teeth. |
pricing sometimes depends on where you are located. we are in the central florida area and for teeth extraction its around 15 for each, but thats on top of the cost of pre-op bloodwork and anesthesia. |
I'm in the New Orleans area and it cost roughly $17 per tooth. But his was done when he was neutered. He had 11 baby teeth removed. |
For retained baby teeth, my vet does not charge if they are under for something else, such as a neuter or spay. I pay $12 extra for any extractions during a dental, but the baby teeth are really not a huge deal to extract, so I doubt they would even charge for it. I think $50/tooth is extremely high! |

The vets around me range A LOT!!!!!!! My vet charges $350 for extracting teeth/cleaning. I usually go to the other vet that is $110 for extractions/teeth cleaning. |

Buddy still had one extra bottom tooth and the vet pulled it out during his yearly. I got lucky. He yelped but it was free:) |
I'm getting Cookie's 1 baby canine tooth pulled out this weekend and for that one tooth extraction its $85/per tooth plus anesthsia. So the total will come out close to $300. |
soooo i took madison in for her rabies shot today & i asked the vet about riley's extraction since he has like 4 teeth he needs to get extracted (upper & lower canines ) she said if they were really tough to get out (worst case scenario) it would be $120 for upper and another $120 for lower PLUS anesthesia :thumbdown hopefully they wont charge as much.. i can feel that his baby teeth are really loose. i'm probably going to call around and get prices from other vets in the area. |
Humane Society Hi there. If you are still looking around, try the Humane Society if there is one around you. They took out my dog Deegan's teeth while he was being neutered(he needed 4 baby teeth out) and they only charged 5 dollars a tooth:D Good luck! |

Obviously your vet is not greedy! My vet has never charged me for removal of decidous teeth. Now I would guess that an older one with retained teeth that have caused major dental issues might cost more; but a younger pup with retained teeth....I think it is ridiculous to charge some of the prices I have seen on this thread. |

I just paid $95 for Sully being neutered and having 4 baby teeth pulled and his glands checked. I thought that was reasonable and we are located in central Ky. |

Very reasonable indeed! |
I am in southern california, Mia had 4 teeth puled 189.00. 100 for drugs the rest was teeth and tax. |
At 9 months of age, my Biewer Daphne had 19 baby teeth removed for $124.00. |
My vet who specializes in small dogs charges what seems to be a highly reasonable $89 for neuter, and $35 for full bloodwork, but an outrageous $10-$17 per pulled tooth. Nikko will be neutered in two days, and for the past month we have been doing everything we can think of to get rid of those baby teeth: tug-of-war, ice cubes made with kibble and water, bully sticks, you name it. We've even been a little more lax with his obsession with chewing on gravel from our backyard, lol. Lauren & Nikko |
The place i go in Florida costs 10$, but i think the price varies depending on your location. |
At what age are your pups getting their Canine teeth pulled? Roxy is going to be 6 months and I can see that the canines are halfway in and the baby ones are still there..still very snug. Believe it or not.. I have been wiggling some of those baby teeth and pulled some out on my own..no different then a kid losing them. When the pups are all tuckered out..get in there and wiggle them..lol! She doesn't even budge. |
My vet wrote on the estimate that pulling a tooth would be $40 a tooth. I thought that high with all the oher charges but they told me that was worst case scenario -- if complications were involved. They charged much less than that on the bill -- I think it was $15 a tooth -- but that was in addition to other costs. I did one of the dentals along with a neutering so that saved money and the other was when full body xrays were needed, so again, it at least 1/2'd the cost of anesthesia. |
