yeah thats what i was wondering too what food is the best for yorkies?... |
I was given Royal Canin Babydog 30 by the breeder and asked the vet and he said that was good and to keep feeding it to Zeus. No problems and complaints on our end. |

In my opinion, some good kibbles are Orijen, Innova EVO, Wellness CORE (if you only have Petsmart/Petco available), Natures Variety Instinct, Solid Gold Barking at the Moon. |
To Honey'sMama....according to the foods your have available (from your previous thread)...I would say your best bet is Royal Canine if you can get it. I would feed RC over Iams, Pedigree, and Science Diet. If there are any other foods available, I would look into them. A good website to look at is Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble GOOD LUCK |

Can you get Science Diet Nature's Best Chicken? Otherwise you might as well stick with RC. |
What do you guys think of Purina 1??? |
Many of Purina's food start with the 1st ingredient as corn. You want to have at least the 1st 4 ingredients be meats and/or quality grains. Anything listed as by-product is also not recommended. By products are parts of animals leftover...even hair! Make sure to check to ingredients on the food bag.... |
ok so you were right.. she just turned a year and science diet also has the first ingredient as corn! What ingrediants should i be looking for? |
I am not an expert by any means but I look for meat...the more the better. For example the 1st 4 ingredients of my pup's food (Innova EVO) are Turkey, Chicken, Turkey Meal, & Chicken Meal. Some good grains are Barley, Brown Rice, Oatmeal etc. I also look for fruits and vegetables in kibble. You might want to start a new thread for input, there are tons on here in this section if you look back further. Many people feed grainless kibble (including myself) and many feed all sorts of other kibble. No Yorkie is the same, and people have had long debates about food. Much luck to you... and check out Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble Not a website to live by, but good for guidance!! |
:( I hate the never ending food debate... I just bought RC and Alphy loved it. It was so tiny that he can eat it with no problems (underbite) and I didn't have to put cottage cheese or something on it to entice them to eat!! I was feeding Blue Buffalo but he spits out the little dark pieces and they are all over the floor. :p Rats... back to the drawing board. :animal36 |
I feed my yorkie and my maltese royal canine and they are doing very well on it, plus my vet recommended it:thumbup: |

Don't be so hard on yourself...I went through several kinds of "top rated" foods and had a very unsatisfied little girl. We either had vomit, diarrhea, or a bowl of untouched food. I was so confused on what to do and had read posts good and bad about RC. Finally, tried it and she has never been happier.:dribble: Maddie seems satisifed and I do not have to mix anything with it to get her to eat. I think I will stick with it for a while. Good Luck! _____________________  I Love m girl! :yorkietal |
