Greenies teeth cleaner/breath freshner I got a free sample but want to know if anyone has tried it? I am afraid to give it to her because I have seen that some get sick on Greenies. Thanks |
Is it a liquid? The problems with greenies were that some dogs couldnt digest them and they caused blockages |
Bella loves greenies!! They might be her favorite !! :) I hear they are very popular. |
It is dental bone. |
I wouldn't use them, although they made a new formula the new formula still isn't 100% digestible, and a small piece that isn't 100% digestible could lodge in the intestine, and cause an obstruction. Large breeds with bigger intestines wouldn't as likely have a problem with a tiny piece, but Yorkie's intestines are much smaller in diameter, and a small piece could cause difficulty. Symptoms to watch for are constipation, lack of appetite, and vomiting. With an obstruction, gangrene can set in, and the results are often deadly. Bully sticks are much safer. |

I think its a personal preference. Molly eats them and LOVES them. She will do anything for them. Its a nightly ritual before bedtime. We haven't had any issues with them. She is 11lb. though so it could be very different with a smaller yorkie. |
It is going in the garbage can now, going to brush her teeth now. Thanks for you infor. |
I gave them to Joey, before I understood the problems with them, and he ate a whole package with no ill effects, I don't know what the safety margin is, it may be 1 out of 10,000 dogs, have problems, but if yours is the unlucky dog, the results can be disastrous, and how do you prove, that it was the greenie? So the ones we hear about with problems, probably had a vet take a sample of the obstruction, and had it analyzed. Most vets probably don't even do that. |
I still do not trust them. They said the first time they were safe too. |
Unless they have changed the formula, lots of dogs get sick from Greenies, Mine get the runs. I just Brush their teeth 4 times a week now... |
I gave Maddie Teenie Greenies recently and she had trouble with them. She was not able to digest them and got an upset stomach. :( |
