What age for Innova Evo??? My Sergeant is 6 months old and I am having a hard time finding a food he will eat---I hear people talk about how well their Yorkies will eat Evo---How old should he be before I can switch to Evo?? :thumbs up |
My dogs vet said it was good food and could be used for all ages/stages and Max started eatting it when he was 14 weeks old. He is now 1 yr. |
my vet said the same thing too and I gave Evo to Tumi when she was about 5 months old. she did great on it. |
Actually, your puppy should continue eating a GOOD QUALITY PUPPY food until it is a year old. They need the extra vitamins in the puppy food. |
My pup started on EVO at about 5 months old. The package says that it is for all life stages, including puppy - you just have to feed a puppy a bit more than an adult because they're so active and have so much growing to do. Before EVO he was on Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover, and had never had a decently well-formed stool. He also gained weight very slowly, constantly looked really skinny and hunched over a lot, never ate the recommended amount, and we almost always had to hand-feed him. As soon as we started gradually switching over to EVO, his stools started to become more normal, and now almost all of his poops are nice and firm (yay!!). He will also actually eat out of his bowl fairly often, and on days when he gets a good amount of exercise, he eats the whole amount that's recommended for his age and size. He's also filled out a little bit, and we can only feel his ribs - not feel AND see. We're only a couple weeks into feeding 100% EVO, but he's also already scratching himself less too, so I suppose he was probably allergic to one of the grains in his old kibble. Anyways, we're really happy we made the switch when we did. He seems so much happier and healthier now, in so many ways. We'll know more though I'm sure in a couple weeks - he'll be getting all his bloodwork done for his neuter. I hope he's actually as healthy as he acts. Lauren & Nikko PS: I asked my vet about EVO too... she said she'd never heard of it, and that we certainly should be feeding something she knows more about, like science diet, and she tossed me a bag from her shelf that she assumed I would then buy. I just smiled, said thank you, and put it back on her shelf. LOL... for the most part, I do still like my vet. :p |
I free feed Max. There is always some in his bowl. :aimeeyork As a puppy I always made sure there was more always available like the above poster said. Natura (the makers of EVO, CA Natural, Innova) said it was an all stages food to (besides just my vet). |
My girls Prada(yorkie) 7 months and Chanel(silky) 10 months are still on Innova puppy, my holistic vet recomended to keep them in their puppy food until they are between 12 to 14 months old, then to slowly switch to Innova adult or Evo. My Harry who is 6 years eats Innova Evo and he is doing great on it, he's been eating it for close to 3 years now..She did say that Evo is for all stages, but since pups grow so fast she thought the ammount of protein in Evo sometimes accelerate growth in pups and she did not want to risk it, with the smaller dogs... hugs, carmen in nj |
Yorkies are considered "adults" at about 6-8 mths (depending on where you read), so you could swith now, if you wish. If you swing a few months either way, it won't really hurt anything - just make sure to feel his ribs and be sure that his weight "feels" healthy. :) |
Snickers is 7 months and we started him on EVO about a week and hald ago. So far so GREAT!!! Loving everything about it especially the fact that he will eat it DRY!!!! YEAH BABY!!!! |
