Roxy can't get enough to eat! Greetings, Roxy just came off a bout of mucusy runny/soft pooping. She had been on boiled chicken breast and rice for about 4 days. I have been adding back veggies, yogurt and sweet potatoe fish treats very gradually. Her poo is back to normal for about 4 days now but she keeps bringing me her dish for food! I give her 1/2 cup of chicken breast, potatoes and veggies twice a day, 2T activia yogurt and either 1 treat and a few bites of raw carrot or 2 treats ( Van Patten's Natural Balance formula treats) along with her daily vitamins. She whines if I don't give her more. Today, I gave her just veggies- about 1/4 cup but she won't settle down. Yesterday, I broke down and gave her 1/4cup more food. How much is too much to feed, could it be a tape worm? (She didn't have worms before when she started with the mucusy stools.) I really don't want to go back to the vet right away. But I don't want to overfeed her either. |
How much does she weigh? A cup of food can be very normal for a Yorkie eating homecooked food. Since it is around 75% moisture, they require quite a bit. Were you feeding this diet before? Was she satisfied then? If yes, she may need to see the vet again. Constant hungry, especially if she is losing weight, could mean there is something going on like Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. Ellie gets homecooked and she would constantly eat if I let her... |
