Yorkies are like a box of chocolates...you never know what you'll get:p Your baby will probably change colors several times before its grown. I'm sure you'll think its the prettiest yorkie ever;) |
My girl's nearly a year old now. She's currently a deeper steel blue and a rich tan/gold. Her mother was a light golden blonde with a silver body, while her dad had a deep rich tan head/face and black body. No idea on the colouring of her grandparents. I think she has her dad's eyes and her mom's facial features overall. :p She certainly inherited more of her mom's temperament than her dad's from what I was able to tell from our couple hour visit. :) If your current baby doesn't end up with your favourite colour combination in a few years, maybe then it's time for you to try picking up a second box of chocolates? :D You can never have too many, right? ;) Unless, of course, your building and/or city are limiting your calorie intake. :p The best bet would be to shoot straight for an adult yorkie with the colouring you like from the start. That way you can be sure of what you're getting. Problem is, that's no guarantee still as quite a number of them "lose" colour as they age, but I'm no expert. :) |
When your baby is at least a couple of months old and you start noticing her colours changing on her head, look at the roots. If her back is still black, chances are, it'll stay black. If by a year, the colours haven't shown any desire to change, you likely have a pup who will keep its black and tan colouring for the rest of its life. Same applies to the head. You can look at the roots and see if it's changing into a tan. It also may lighten to a golden tan or blonde later on. And then go even lighter as they age. From what I've seen, they either stay about the same or go lighter and lighter, never darker/deeper in tone. |
on top of her hair she have some gold hair mixed with black is this normal? |
2 Attachment(s) Fiona is almost a year old. She is tan on her face, with beautiful silver and black highlights, and she still has black tips from her remaining puppy hair, she is very pretty! |
