Snorting?? Hello people. I am a new member here with a 6 month old boy, Maximus. I am kind of scared for him these days b/c he snorts. Snorting? now, I am not sure what that is he is doing, but it sounds like he is snorting or trying to clean out his nasal passage or something. He did that sometimes since I got him, but yesterday, in the morning I woke up b/c of that noise, constantly. I was afraid if he couldn't breathe or something. Do you know if this is some kind of illness? I am thinking about getting him health insurance for shots and other illnesses. I know from reading your posts that Yorkies sometimes do not naturally lose all their baby teeths, although I found 3 of his in the past week. Do you guys know if health insurance will cover tooth extraction at the vet's office too? Thank you so much. :o |
hi maximus..............Just got my Beamer boy back from all day stay at his vets today, for sounds like kinda the same problem........if you check on the post" Beamer's intranasal trouble" you could find some helpful info! Hope this helps......If any nasal discharge that is dark yellow, green or blood-tinged you need to see a Vet as sounds more like bacterial or fungal type infection! |
sounds like reverse sneeze to me |
Thanks. I hope Beamer is gonna be well. Huh, I guess it isn't as serious as I thought it was. That is a bit of a relief, although I will have to keep a hawk-eye on him to see if it's gonna get any worse. He usually snorts and gags continuously in the morning in bed when he wakes. His nose is always wet, but I think that's a healthy sign isn't it? He doesn't have any mucus though. Just wet nose. Oh yeah, one more thing. I am ignorant about this breed and I try to study them as much as I can, but, you know, my dog accumulates a lot of brown deposits in his eyes and it gets sticky and nasty and etc, so I have to clean his eyes daily. Is this eye discharge thing normal to all yorkies? Thank you. |
What is that? A reverse sneeze? Is it related to them being cold or having a cold? He is always warm thogh. Where I live doesn't get that cold. He doesn't ever caugh or sneeze. He just snorts or what sound like gagging constantly. |
here is some good info on reverse sneeze http://yorkieviews.com/reversesneezing.htm |
My girl Kandee does this sometimes when excited and i find that blocking her nostrils with my fingers usually stops it (i read it on a vet page) |
