Dull coat, constipation..thyroid? 2 Attachment(s) I just wanted to pick your brains to see if anyone else might have some experience in this. Scout's yearly is coming up in a couple weeks, so don't worry..he's going to the vet, but there are some things I'm worried about with him. Perhaps I'm spending too much time and energy obsessing about my dogs, but here's the story: I've noticed in the last few months, Scout's coat looks dull, and he looks dirty just a day after a bath. He is also having frequent bouts of constipation. He eats a good quality food-Solid Gold Wee Bits-and my other two dogs eat the same and look great. He seems to act a little more grouchy and not quite as active as usual. He is not fat..in fact a little on the skinny side, but the vet says he's a good weight for his little body frame. He likes to nap alot, but he does have periods of play with his brother. He is 4 years old. I was thinking maybe thyroid? But anyone else have any experience or know anything about this? Here are some pics...excuse his bed head, but I think the picture illustrates what I'm talking about...he had a bath 3 days ago..the others still look fresh. |
How old is he? My pom was diagnosed with a thyroid condition a few years ago and her symptoms were weight loss inspite of eating normal, her skin had a lot of sores and she had a lot of hair loss and dull fur. After treating that we found out she Cushing's disease. When you take him in for his yearly make sure they to a thrroid test. Hopefully it is nothing. |
He's 4 years old. I've noticed he does seem a little skinnier than normal, but not anorexic looking or anything. His skin seems dry and he does kind of bite at his paws and booty more than he ever has. I will def. ask them to do thyroid test. Does your baby take meds? |
Maybe you should try to switch his food. Nutri source is really good. My izzy seemed to poop more regularly when I switched her to that and even when she needs a bath really bad her coat is still super shiny. |
