How much is too much? I made some homemade chicken noodle soup last nite and had some boiled chicken left over...i cooked it plain as the broth when added gives it enough flavor, anyway I gave bailee some and then gave her some again tonite with her supper...she is teething and currently missing all four lil baby teeth and the front part of the bottom of her mouth...so i wil continue to give her some chicken and egg which she loves until her gums feel better...my question is how much "people" food should she be allowed...she had chicken last nite and tonite and tommorow i was going to give her egg...is this too much? Also what are some other soft foods she can have?thanks guys! |
Boiled chicken with no added flavoring is fine for dogs - it is a bland diet. I recommend feeding plain boiled chicken and rice for dogs who have upset stomachs, when transitioning from different foods or are having tummy problems. This type of diet helps "reset" their digestive system and get back to normal (usually for dogs who have inconsistent stool). So you can feed all the boiled chicken you want - but if you decide to feed her home-cooked meals exclusively - then you should probably meet with a nutritionist to figure out a diet plan to make sure she is getting all the nutrition from different food sources that she needs. As for soft foods - you can always try a dehydrated diet - just add water and let hydrate! They turn into soupy/stew like texture that dogs can just lick up and not have to use teeth! Or you can just mix kibble with hot water, which will make the kibble soft and dogs really seem to enjoy the water that gets flavored from the kibble. (just make sure you let the water and kibble cool down before serving!) |
thanks! |
I don't know how old your puppy is but just because she's teething doesn't mean she can't have regular food. I have fed my dogs nothing but dry kibble for over 20 years even puppies who are being weaned and don't have their baby teeth yet can eat ground puppy kibble |
