Very Dry Skin
 
My yorkie has dry skin. Its doing better so far I have been bathing her once a month with oatmeal shampoo and leave in conditioner and I dont blow dry her. And I have been rubbing fish oil on her skin. Is there anything else I can do?

I tried vitamins and a oil that goes on her food. but it gave her diarrhea.

You might try a humidifier.. when it was really cold here and we had the heat on all the time, Franklin's skin got dry and itchy. The humidifier seemed to help.

her skin doesnt seem to be itchy at all. Its more like she has a very scabby back and back of her neck.

I've heard that bathing more frequently actually with a good shampoo - an oatmeal shampoo or other moisturizing shampoo can actually help to repair the dryness - like maybe every 10 days.

Have you tried salmon oil, I put that on chesters wet food

I would have her checked by a vet. I think scabs may be more than just dry skin.

If she has scabs, she needs to see a vet - this doesn't sound like just dry skin to me.

yeah Ive decided to take her to the vet. Being that it is not all over just on her back and neck Im guessing its not just dry skin. Im going to try to get her in this week. Im so upset though cause I dont like the vet in my town. I did have one here in town I liked but he moved. :(

I might have to go about 45-50 miles away to find another one. :(
