flour for kwikstop? I'm always looking for kitchen stuff to use instead of buying these expensive products. I mean why spend a bunch of money when you can get the same result using something from your kitchen? Anyways, I was looking online to see if I could find a cheaper and just as effective method for kwikstop for clipping the dog's nails. It said to use wheat germ or flour. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever used it and how it worked. |
I would recommend Corn Starch over Flour - that is normally in people's kitchen also! I hope that helps! It has a faster clotting action. I honestly don't know the difference between the wheat and white flour and the affect on the clotting. Sorry! Hopefully someone else will have input. |
Thanks! I'm always open to ideas! My MIL wants me to start clipping their dog's nails and I'm a little nervous because I don't know how wiggly he is. My two are great with grooming and nail trims, but doing the unknown is scary and I don't want to hurt him. I'm doing it tonight. Wish me luck! |
Mine are pretty good at it now but I used peanut butter and cream cheese (one didn't like peanut butter).....i would hold the dog in my arm and my hubby would hold a spoon with a bit of cream cheese or peanut butter and they would lick away! I could get the front feet done quickly!!!! WE would repeat again for the back ones! It was the worse thing that would happen is they would have sticky faces! :) |
:animal-payou can use corn starch, flour, candle wax, and crayons. I trimmed my dashchunds nails last week, and cut it too short ( which i never do) and i used flour and it worked fine and fast too. |
Cool! Thanks! I just hate going out and spending a bunch of money on stuff you can use at home. Kwikstop at PetsMart for the smallest bottle is I think $6.00. At PetCo it's $10! I can buy a huge bag of flour for $2 and use it to cook with too. I mean, obviously, if I have to I'd go out and spend the money, but if I don't have to, I'd rather use that money and buy them a new toy or something. |
I was online looking when i cut my babies nail to short and started to bleed. I found out you can use corn starch! and It worked really good! |
