Question about California Natural Does anyone feed this? It really agrees with Sadie and Joey's tummies, but seems to have less protein (21%) than the other premium foods. Does anyone know anything about this food and whether it is enough protein? Should I be supplementing or alternating food? I really would appreciate any info anyone can offer me!! |
Franklin used to be on CN and I know lots of other members feed it without problems. He loved it! Protein content is really a matter of preference. If you want your dog to have more protein, than you can switch but there's no need to switch up if they are thriving on the California Natural! |
Thanks for your help! Just wondering why you switched Franklin off of it? |

there is nothing wrong with that- protein is usually somewhre in the 20% range- it just means there are more veggies and starches in it. I, like Diana, like grain free food but it' sjust a matter of preference. if it is going over well with him- it's a great food- i'd stay with it. |
I saw your post in the other thread and my answer was, it is okay to continue feeding it but if I had a healthy, active dog, I would probably feed something a bit higher in protein or add a bit of protein to the CN. |
cn if your dog is doing well, I'd say keep it. I love natura pet foods! They make cn. My girls were on cn lamb, but if u can supplement with a spoonful of canned that has a different kind of protein, such as innova's flex beef and or chicken. That way just in case your dog develops an allergy/sensitivity to the one specific protien in cn after being on it for years, their body's protein receptors will accept another type of protein. If u want something different, they also make innova which offers more veggies and fruits. |
