royal canin puppy 27 a good option? hi guys! please help me out I went again to the petstore...:( to get more food... i got royal canin 27 for my 2 baby yorkies 9 weeks old. they are on the horrible science diet. I Want something better, the vet said wellness is to rich for their tummys,. so i keep reading and now i found that royal canin is bad....:eek::eek::eek::eek: so what can i get now.... has anyone have experience with royal canin ? or any bad thing with wellness. thanks  |
Actually I think that the wellness is much better than RC. You can try merricks or chicken soup. At the beginning of this section you will see a sticky with high quality foods. Pick one from there that you can readily purchase in your area. Good luck with your pups and welcome to YT. |
I had my girl on RC for the entire first year of her life. It is not the best choice. She did great on it however..its too much grain. Is it nutritious? does it do its job yes! But in the end is it the best choice? no. Too many grains can lead to inflammatory diseases like arthristis. There are just better choices. We have been on the honest kitchen ever since. its raw dehydrated. Just mix it with warm water and in 5 min you have fresh food. its easy and about the same cost per day. |
I have heard lots of bad things about Royal Canine. If you are going to Petco, they have some pretty good choices. Wellness, Natural Balance and Halo are pretty good. All are better than RC, I believe. If you want to do even better, find a place that sells brands like Innova, Natures Variety, Merrick. :animal-pa |

I was going to get wellness but i was scared some people report online they dogs got very sick.. Hanna is really sensitive so i was thinking to change her to wellness at her 6 months birthday... I just want the best for them, and of course i dont want her with major vomit or something worse.. I`m so worried.... |
How do they like RC 27? I've heard that the Wellness kibble size is bigger than other brands, which is why I'm a little hesitant to try it. From my experience, Kobi started on Science Diet but after reading so many negative things about it, I changed to Natural Balance but he would not touch it, so after not eating much for 2 days, I switched to Royal Canin Indoor Puppy which he loved.. Unfortunately, he started getting itchy and now has dry/flakey skin... I'm assuming he's allergic to it. So now, I tried Nature's Recipe Puppy Lamb Meal & Rice Formula which he hates... So now I'm considering Wellness.. Regardless of which brand you use, someone will always have an opinion whether it is good or bad. Good Luck! |

i will be posting their progress |
I have used it for three puppies and no problem. What is bad about it? |
I bought Royal Canin, discovered it was bad, now I have Wellness Just for Puppy. But she doesn't like it very much. She will nibble on it but never goes after it like she used to. The size of Wellness is larger than RC but not by much, maybe 1/3 more. I want to use kibble with wet once a day on occasion but now I'm looking for something as good as Wellness too. |
Max is on the Wellness Small Breed Formula with no problems. |
I personally Like Royal Canin. I know it's not the top but not the worst it's in the middle. I try to change for better quality few times, But so hard to please 5 dogs! I always go back to RC. I add NUPRO natural dog supplement to the food a few times a weeks too. |

MY Laci is pretty small but she has a smaller mouth and the wellsness was horrible for her she struggled to eat the kibble it is way to big IMO, I just switched to Eagle Brand Hollistic Select and its awesome, the kibble is designed for small breed puppies and its smaller then a pea, its perfect she can bite it and chew it easily... I think she has a hard time with the bigger kibble in Wellness it really was frustrating watching her try to break it up.. I love the HOllistic Select its GREAT:thumbup::thumbup: |
5 Stars on DFA Dog Food Reviews - 5 Star Premium Dry Food - Powered by ReviewPost And the Wellness site page for it Super5Mix Small Breed - Adult Health I get it at Petco It is a small triangle shape |
When I got Pebbles 3 weeks ago she was on RC and soft food mixed in recommended by the breeder, but she had diarrhea so I had a sample of food from a high end pet store here in Ottawa and it was called From for puppy, she loved it and I did not have to mix it with soft food and her Diarrhea went away. It is a holistic food it is a four star food which is not the best but she is doing well on it. I think it is a personal preference I think if your dog likes it and is doing well don't worry about it. |
