Cosequin I started both girls on Cosequin last Saturday night. It is a cat size dose for each of them. Gracie has had really loose stools ever since. The info I found online says it can cause some GI upset like when changing food, so give it with food if this is a problem. I sprinkle it on their food anyway. Has anyone else had this issue? Does it subside with time or will Gracie not be able tolerate taking it? |
This sounds familiar. I think it may have been Ann (Wylie's Mom) that had an issue with Wylie but it straightened out? Not sure. Did you start with a small amount and work your way up or start with the full dose? I just started with the whole thing with no problems. I'd give it another week or so and if it isn't working, consider switching. If it doesn't get better in a week, you can always pull it for a few days and restart slowly. |

i started out with half the dose and then a week later i gave them the full dose. They have been on it for 5 months now. |
If she is still having loose stools, I'd probably stop giving it, wait for her stool to go to normal and then start slowly again. After putting her back on you could wait for about two weeks to see if it is going to work as long as she isn't getting dehydrated from the stool issues. |
I've just starting giving Cassi regular strength Cosequin daily for the last 2 weeks. I give her the whole dose by opening the pill and mixing it with peanut butter (she won't eat it with her food). She has not had any problems. I hope I'm not overdosing her as she only weighs 4.4 lbs. |
