Puppy Gas Hello, I currently own a 6mth Female and 3mth Male, they are both on Wellness Puppy Dry food. They are now experiencing extreme gas. I looked into Innova... Can someone enlighten me. I looked at the ingredients on both. I see good and bad posts on Wellness. Anyone feed Innova? |
I have not tried Innova, however I just recently started giving Kobi the Wellness Puppy Canned Food mixed with dry food and noticed he has been having constant gas. I'm not quite sure if he's just adjusting to having canned food or what. I may consider a different brand. |
Innova kibble would be okay to try. Their canned is really too high in fat. Some foods just don't work well for some dogs and Wellness does seem to cause this problem sometimes. I have heard the same about Innova though. The best thing you can do is try. :) Just switch over very slowly. Constant gas would lead me to believe that they may be in some pain or discomfort. |
reply :eek:Yes I am going to get some samples of Innova, what about Royal Canin? As for mixing the can and dry wellness, I did that too. It did the same thing. My puppies have unbearable gas, it stinks up the whole room and with two of them doing it pee eww! |
When mine was on Innova EVO Red Meat as well as their Chicken small bites kibbles, she was REALLY gassy too. I've noticed little to no gas since her food's been changed for a few months to Petcurean's "now!" puppy formula NOW! Grain Free Pet Food. I also mix in Orijen 6 Fish adult (couldn't find a puppy version). She mostly prefers the "now!" Turkey and Duck puppy (new formula became Turkey, Duck and Salmon for puppy) which are tiny bites but she chews/crunches through her food no matter the size anyway. She picks out the Orijen and drops them aside but eventually would get back to it when there's no other choice. I know it's not because the Orijen's a larger bite because in size it's smaller or same as the EVO red meat large bites she ate without complaint. If it's not the flavour then it must be that the sphere-like kibbles makes it tougher to break down the center. In either event, I'm just glad she's not constantly gassing in my lap, while she's walking, sleeping, anytime at any place! |
