don't know why he won't eat my yorkie won't eat. He will only drink. I got him for christmas and since then he rarely eats. What do you guys feed your yorkie? I am clueless about dog foods for yorkies since this is my first puppy ever. |
Couple questions to start with: Are you feeding him the same food the breeder was using? How old is he? How much does he weigh? Oh - and welcome to YT:wavey: |
Is he pooping? Is he playing? How old is he? I always put karo syrup in the water for my new puppies becase they are usually off their feed for a few days. Is he active enough to make him hungry? I give my puppies about a teaspoon of Pedigree canned for puppies. Then I feed them Royal Canin Kibble for small breed puppies. I have also been know to give them Prina puppy chow if it is all that i could get them to eat. It's not a good food, but ANY food is better than NO food. It's like with a todler, you pick your battles. If he is still very young, you can give him some baby rice cereal mixed with some diluted canned goats milk. |
he is almost 4 months old. He weighs about 3.5lbs when I got him however he looked like he got bigger now. I feed him the food the breeder gave me however i am not sure which brand they are. they up it in a ziplock bag for me. He poop about 4 times a day. He dranks a lot of water though. Maybe he is not getting enough exercise. My husband's coworker suggested crating him for housetraining. So that is what I am doing. He stays in the crate most of the time and out for a couple of hours for playtime. |
He may be getting used to the new surroundings. Try a little canned food mixed with the dry. Call the breeder to see what it is they were feeding him. My Samson eats much better with some canned food mixed in. He thinks he's being spoiled! |
I'd call the breeder, and ask if she every had this problem before, and ask her what she might suggest. |
