Spaying laser or not I would like to know peoples opinion on having spaying done by laser or conventional surgery. Is it worth the extra cost and the shorter recovery time? Are there any other pros or cons between the two methods? My female will be around ten months old when I get her in for spaying due to her heat cycle. |
I have no experience with laser spaying, but member Peanut does - you might want to pm her and ask..... |

I have never heard of spaying with the laser, i have only done neutering and cat declaws with the laser, and the recovery time is sorta the same. It's really up to you want to do. Fiona did well with her spay, just hard to keep them low key afterwards...good luck! |
I had my Sophie spayed with laser. I believe it was worth it, and really it wasn't that much more mto have done. She healed very quickly, and we had no complications. She also had no stitches, her incisions was surgically glued. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. |
I had my Sophie spayed using a laser also, like the other poster no stitches external instead they used a glue. She healed very nicely and as my vet said "she is ready for Bikini season now". I was so scared during the spay process and I questioned my poor trusted vet. Thankfully I listened to her advice and had the laser procedure done for a little additional cost. Sophie sure is a popular name for dog's, in my neighborhood we have 2 Sophie's - Big Sophie the Lab and Little Sophie the Yorkie. |
Hope this helps I came across this article today. I had been looking for a vet in the Milwaukee area, and discovered a vet who offered laser surgeries. I Google'd the subject and found this link within an article about "Neutering and Spaying your Pets". I found it to be very informative. After reading it, I'll defiantly consider this an option over the "cold steel". Lasers Lead Surgery to the Cutting Edge |
