What are the best puppy treats? My little 5mos. :aimeeyork girl has not liked the treats I've tried to use for training. I need something really small...Any idea? I hate to spend more money on treats she won't eat. THANKS! :) |
I use Exclusively Pet, Inc. Best Buddy Bits. You can easily find them, are made from human grade ingredients, and my Snickers LOVES them. I use cheese and peanut butter. I find bags of them for as low as $1.90 at my pet supply store, but at a pet store, they are 5 bucks! I also sometimes use little bits of string cheese if I REALLY need Snickers to pay attention, it's his absolute favorite. They love baby carrots as well. Try to use all natural treats!! -Viv:animal-pa |
Cheerios Lily gets Cheerios and she "sits" as soon as she sees it now!!lol She isn't a real "treat" girl but she does like Cheerios and they are small enough to use pretty good. |
We give Shelby & Seymour crunchie treats. We get Itty bitty Buddy biscuits (the sweet potato madness flavor). They are really little.... perfect size. They are also ALL NATURAL!!! Made by Cloud star. ( www.cloudstar.com ) We also give them "Good Dog" dog treats. These too come in little sizes!! They come in Blueberry cobbler and apple dumpling and peanut butter & jelly. Shelby & Seymour LOVE the apple dumplin the best. They are made by sojourner farms. Also ALL natural!!!! ( All Natural Dog Food and Natural Dog Treats by Sojourner Farms ) We buy them at a pet bakery/store locally, but thought I would list the websites so you can find out if someone near you sells them.... or so you can order them! They are crunchy, but kinda "airy" so they are easy for them to chew..... (some treats can be so ridiculouly hard). |
Maximus loves Yorkie Yummies that Cindy (chattiesmom) sells. Here is her website, FoxyPups - Yorkie Yummies - Yorkie treats if you are interested. |

:thumbup::thumbup: My dogs LOVE Cindy's Yorkie Yummies!! I love that they are homemade and use human grade ingredients!! |
my boy loves the little treats that Cindy (chattiesmom)_ sells as well. And he really loves Bully sticks and they are great for keeping his teeth clean. :p |
Treats When I used to show dogs, we used liver that we cooked in garlic, BUT why not try BilJac liver treats? They are small and all dogs LOVE them ;) |
cut up some baby carrots in to tiny pieces Green beans too. |
Treats I give Mimi P nuttier biscuits by Old Mother Hubbard. Also, products by Merrick. |
I use Cheerios broken into 3 or 4 pieces each (so the do not have to think long to eat it). Works great for Max. |

I have never seen Liver treats as a problem but it might be the garlic you cooked them in. I was reading something on line yesterday that said to much garlic can be bad from them. I believe I was researching natural ways to kill fleas and they mentioned this. You might want to research the affects of garlic on your little guy. :D |
Sorry, I might have read these wrong, thats what happends when you are at work and on YT also..LOL.. I have never heard of a problem with Liver treats, I give em to my boy. :p |
YORKIE YUMMIES they are the best. |
Zukes zukes zukes! I'm using Zuke's Mini naturals (chicken formula). I only want to give my babies healthy food, including treats. They are soft and pliable so you can pull it into smaller pieces as needed, (even though they are already small) and they contain NO corn, soy, fat, by-products, or artificial color or flavors! AND as an added bonus the company donates yearly to the Dog & Cat Cancer fund. Worth the support! Not to mention they are made in the USA! I buy mine at petco for less than 4 dollars a bag I believe it was |
My boy eats the zukes peanut butter and the zukes salmon. I did call to check on the PB content this week and they said their source was clean. They are the best when we are working on "leave it"! |

Ooohh thanks for that update! very good to know! |
We have gone grainless and now use Wellness Jerky Treats and Snickers will do anything for them. He just graduated from puppy class with the help of these treats. He also has been accident free for a while now (I bet he is peeing on the carpet as I am typing this!:)) and will go outside and pretend to pee just to get a piece!! We are using Venison right now...love it!! Seen them priced from $6.50-$11.00:eek: a bag. -Vivian:animal-pa |
