Question on Pet Food
 
I have a question about dog food. I have a yorkie puppy that is 5 months and 2 weeks. I am almost done with the bag of food that the breeder had given me. She gave me the Eagle Pack Small Breed Puppy. I want to switch him to the Merrick Puppy food. Here is the link for it: Merrick Pet Foods - Pet Foods

Do you think I should not switch foods already? Is he too young? Should I buy another bag of what the breeder gave me and keep him on that. I would eventually like to switch him to Merrick Pet food. Any opinions and answers are really appreciated. Thanks so much.

I would swap him now while you still have the old food. It's super important you make the switch over a period of a week or so. Don't wait until you are completely out so you can properly switch him.

Thank you so much girls. I will def. go buy a bag tomorrow so I can start switching him gradually. I will do half of his old food and half of his food I am switching him too.

I would start off doing 1/4 to 3/4 for the first couple of days. Then move to half and then 3/4 and 1/4. Starting at half may be too sudden.

I started to gradually switch him yesterday and he absolutely loves Merrick's food. I have never seen him eat his food so fast.

Mimi eats it in like 2 minutes lol. She loves it. Her favorite is the granny's potpie. I don't know what other flavors are good. Anyone recommend another flavor?

My Snickers is on Merrick's Puppy Plate and is doing very well on it. His next bag will be Granny's Pot Pie but it will be a while since finishing a 15lb bag takes a while hahah. I actually bought Snick Wellness Super 5 to rotate but he won't touch it. So Merrick it is!! Snick has very compact and firm poop and does not toot often at all!! (Bonus:);) Also, if you add a bit of water, it makes this great gravy!!

There is actually a complaint about WELLNESS they have been finding fish bones in it. Just to give you heads up . i wll post it in the general discussions form

I know, thanks...of course I found out about that AFTER I bought the Wellness, thank goodness I bought a small bag. Geez!!

My brother and sister in law told me about the gravy. I can't wait to try it. I was going to wait to do that until he was completely on the Merricks food but maybe I will start doing it now. I don't know what I will do yet.
