help.. Gucci ate the Mini hair elastic he had in his hair, Induce Vomiting? Or leave it alone, I am only worried it may cause some sort of blockage... If I do induce vomiting what do I use? he is 4.6 lbs and 4 months old. UGH He was napping with it in his hair I guess he got it out I caught him eating it tried to get it and he swallowed it .. :( |
If that's the worst thing he swallows, your good. I wouldn't worry about it. It'll pass. |
Was it like a regular rubberband or one of the ones with the cloth on it? Dymond ate a regular little bow and I called the vet and they said to keep an eye on her make sure she was pooing and to check for it in her poo. I guess to make sure she didn't get a blockage it came out later that night. I am no expert or anything hopefully someone will come along with a lot more experience than I have. I hope the little handsome man doesn't get sick. |
It was like the one he has in his hair in my avatar. Like an ouchless mini elastic. |
i don't think i'd worry about it - he'll probably pass it. |
You use peroxide to induce vomiting but I wouldnt do it for that. He will pass it. My Chachi has ate pocket polly toys and passed them |
WOW polly pocket toys  .. I was sooo soo worried, It is a mini hair elastic maybe a little smaller than a dime in diameter and has fabric covered over it.. it's a Goody Ouchless one, I am sure you know what I mean. So you guys think it will pass? I was just worried it could get tangled somewhere because it's elastic ya know. This guy drives me nuts! Induce vomiting is a NO GO for this particular incident then? I called the vet he said I could bring him to induce vomiting if I want but other than that just watch him and see what happens. |
You really want to induce vomiting more when they swallow a dangerous pill or something like that |
I think it will pass. I wouldn't induce vomitting for something like that. Only if he ate a bunch of chocolate or medicine, something that could poison him. The elastic will come out the backend just as easily as it would the front I'm sure :D That little Gucci sure keeps you on your toes hey? He's lucky that he's so cute ;) |
With some things inducing vomiting can make things worse. This is true with some chemicals. When unsure, always ask the vet. I guess the vet is leaving it up to you, so whatever you are comfortable with... |
There is a thread about the oddest thing your dog has ever pooped. It is a scream and has been around for a few years. I highly recommend reading it...you will feel so much better about that little rubber band! :D Here is the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...er-pooped.html Some of these posts will leave you rolling in the floor! It is one of my favorite thread to read when i need a belly laugh! :p |

To EVERYONE THAT HAS COME TO REPLY!.. Thank you so much for the reassurance. It did sound as if the vet was leaving it up to me and I really do not want to induce vomiting if there is no need. I appreciate all the responses in such a quick time! I worry so much about the lil stinker. |
Mine have passed hair scrunchies on several occasions. I don\'t think you have anything to worry about. |
I am playing the waiting game now.. he usually doesn\'t poo until later in the evening but for now he\'s fine, playing, running etc. |
I found one of my baby\'s 1/4" latex bands in her poo. I didn\'t even know she swallowed it. My problem is that I have two puppies. They take each other\'s bands out. I am seriously thinking of giving them bangs so they don\'t need to wear bands all the time to keep the hair out of their eyes. |
