Please give me your opinion... I just switched my pup to Wellness wet food because the vet wanted her to start a wet and dry mix food. I previously tried science diet and she hated it! Is wellness a good brand??:p |
Wellness is one of the better brands and its alot better than science diet |
I have never fed wellness, but have always heard good things about it. You just have to remember that because it is a "good/quality" food still doesn't mean that it will work for your baby. When I did a switch with Harley I took the list of recommended foods from the sticky, found out which ones I could get locally and then went from there. We have had to change a couple of times to find something that Harley likes and that works well with his tummy. I personally feed Merrick's Before Grain Chicken, we are on bag #2 of this and so far so good (finger's crossed). Jeri and Harley:aimeeyork |
I've tried to reply with a long response 2 times! It keeps logging me off ... just checking to see if this works ... |
Can you not do a long reply ... anyone ???? |

I'm feeding my yorkies Pedigree. I started them off on Pedigree puppy bites, then went to Pedigree adult food as they got older. They love it, and are very healthy. Has anyone had any bad experiences with this food? |
Wellness is Great ! We have been feeding our girls Wellness " Core " and have had no problems with it. Its one brand that never had any recalls and my vet even recommended adding some green beans to it for fiber. They love it !! They were picky eaters for a while but not anymore, thanks to Wellness. I think Wellness is one of the better foods - MUCH better than SciDi, that's for darn sure. :) |
I'll try again ... My baby did not do well on Wellness. Loose stools, diarrhea and foul smelling gas. Was on Puppy and then Adult (dry). We've switched to Orijen Adult Dry and within one day the stools began returning to normal. Odie has been on the Orijen since this past Sunday, so 4 days and his stools are perfect ... and this was after a month of loose stools. I found on the net many other pet owners who had problems with Wellness. You have to find what works for your pet and wellness sure didn't for our baby. He was on Eukanuba when we bought him and I did switch him over slowly to the Wellness thinking it was a good food. Orijen is a grain free dog food and he is doing great on it!!! Thank God!!! Thanks for everyones comments. She has been on the Wellness Wet for 2 days now and we are slowly switching her to the dry. She seems to like it which is our biggest issue with her. She is very picky and does not eat enough. We will try it and see how it goes. |

Odie loved eating Wellness, especially the Adult for Small Breeds. I switched him over to the adult a bit early because of his poop issues thinking the puppy maybe too rich for him. As I said problems persisted and even got worse on the adult. He was fine at first when I switched him from the Eukanuba (which is what the breeder had him on) but then the loose , frequent poops and even squatting like he had to poop and just clear bile coming out. We were ready to take him to the vet and when I found so many other pet owners with the exact same symptoms in their dogs, I chose a grain free, and I believe higher quality food, Orijen. So just keep an eye on your baby and see how she does. We all just want the best for our little Yorkies. I'm soooo happy Odie is having normal poops ... my husband and I were clapping when we saw the first firm stool ... yes we've lost our minds (LOL) ... but it was a great moment!!! |
I tried Wellness core with Lola but she didnt really care for it. I then tried Evo grain free chicken and she loved it! Check with your vet as many of them have samples to offer. |

Check out 'dogfoodanalysis.com" It rates all the food from 6 stars to 1 star. The food you are asking about is rated a 1 star. It says it main ingedient is grains and it should be meat. They give it a really bad review. Research is finding that grains are causing alot of health problems in dogs. There are grain free options out there. My pup is on Orijen. It is rated 6 stars and he is doing great on it! Good Luck |
