Swollen Breast My Yorkie girl has swollen breast she is just over 1 year old and just came out of heat, is that normal? They are each about the same swollen (about the size of a raisin under each one) Thanks |
forgot to add that she got 3 shots at the vet a was given a heart worm pill |
Sometimes they will have false pregnancy after their heat cycle...Good luck and let us know how she is doing.... |
My Roxie went into heat before her scheduled spay last summer and then had a false pregnancy and her nipples did get big and they are still noticable. She was spayed in August and they are still like they were when she was in heat. My other girls you can't even feel them at all. I would ask your vet though. |
Bella had this too Bella went into heat before her scheduled spay. Then she had a false pregnancy, her nipple were huge. Doc said that her breast were filled with milk also. It has been 1 1/2 months since she was spayed and her nipples returned to normal size. She did have a small lump under one breast about 2 weeks ago. But it went away after 2 days. She is doing great now.:):aimeeyork |

Swollen Breast I'm wondering how long after the heat cycle their nipples are swollen? My mom has a male yorkie and I have a female, he came to "visit" and they mated for a few hours only 1 day ( I want another Yorkie, but at the same time I'm so scared because I've heard horror storys about having to help them and having a c-section so after they got stuck and were done I seperated them) Anyways it's been 38 days since they mated and her nipples and stomache are bigger than normal! (her stomache looks like she ate alot of food and has a full tummy) Can the vet do a pregnancy test to see if she is pregnant or should I just wait to find out in another 4 weeks? :confused::idontknow |
RE: What is Going in Heat? It means your dog is having a period just like us ladies! lol, fun stuff! I have read stuff about dogs in heat and depending on the dog: The average heat cycle for a dog is approximately 3 weeks and since this an an average, some heats are shorter (as little as 7-10 days), others are longer (4 weeks or more). Average times between heat periods is seven months but some dogs can cycle as early as every 4 months, some once a year. Lengths of heat cycles and intervals between cycles are different for each dog but most dogs hit somewhere close to the averages. The first part of heat you will notice bleeding from the vulva, swelling of the vulva along with blood, at the pet store you can buy Diapers for dogs which I usually do since my dog stays in the house, but most dogs keep themselves clean by licking!
