My baby had a flea
 
Yippes!!! I just found a flea on my baby girl pebbles.:eek: She just came in from outside and was laying on my bed on her back and I saw it on her belly. I got it off but now I'm creeped out. I checked all three of them with a fine toothed comb. Don't see anymore. I didn't know they could get fleas in the winter. Tomorrow all three will get a flea bath. Can I give my 3mo. old a flea bath or is she too young? What else could I do?

I use Zodiac Flea and Tic shampoo for puppies and kittens. It works great!!!

Dawn dishwashing soap kills fleas and is safe for puppies. Use it 50/50 detergent and water and let the lather stay on for as long as your puppy will hold still, then rinse.

We've had some pretty mild weather this winter plus fleas can live indoors, so it's a good idea to use a flea preventative all year long.

Most flea preventatives aren't healthy at all so we don't use them here unless Ellie actually has fleas. Fleas baths, depending on the brand of the shampoo, can be very dangerous.

If Dawn doesn't work, I would stick to something like Frontline Plus or Advantage.

I wouldn't put any harsh chemicles on any animal. They cause cancer. Try one of the natural products that keep fleas off naturally! ;)

Down here in North Carolina we have to use a flea preventative. The fleas are bad year round. Even people who have indoor cats only have to use flea treatments and they come right in through the screens or hitchhike on your legs.

When I lived up in New York I never had to use flea treatments all the time, but we had a terrible problem with ticks up there. You can't win. :)

Yup, down south you really don't have a choice.
Thankfully up here we do and Ellie rarely get them.

I also wouldn't use the chemical kind. I bought an all natural kind on the internet. I'm out of it now but it smelt so bad. I was afraid with the chemicals. My daughter just gave all three of them a bath. I have a puppy mild flea shampoo. I use it very sparingly. I hope it worked. I only saw the one flea right after they came in from outside last night. They aren't scratching I think we're ok now. :)
