peeing too often? My Lexi is 13 1/2 weeks old and it seems she can not hold her pee for more than 10 minutes at a time when she is awake. She just took a long nap and I went to get her and put her outside and she did her thing. I praised her just like I was supposed to and brought her back in and put her on my lap to email a friend. I did not have her more than 5 minutes and she wet on my lap. Not a lot but left a wet spot about the size of a half dollar. She peed on the carpet three times in 45 minutes last night when we were playing with her and she has peed on my daughter three times that I can think of. I take her out several times a day, probably every 30 minutes and she still has accidents in the house. Does this seem unusual? I am taking her to the vet tomorrow for her 3rd set of shots. I will mention this but was wondering what ya'll thought? |

This could be very natural not sure. Each dog like people are different. But, if I were concerned I would mention it to the vet. Her bladder just may not be fully developed yet, so she may just have to go to the bathroom alot. I had read somewhere that you also need to take them outside after playtime so they can relieve theirselves. Good Luck |
Esme never peed while I was holding her, but she did pee frequently as a small puppy. She is pad trained and when I was potty training her, I would make sure to put her on the pad every 15 minutes. She would pee REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY often. |
Just curious, when did Esme start holding it longer? I think we are going to buy diapers for the house when she is running around on the carpet. She has a xpen most of the time. My husband thinks if we crated her she might learn to hold it longer. I do not know. |
Esme can hold it forever now if she had too. She is 10 months old. We only crated her during the night and we did that since day one. She would hold it while she was in the crate. Some nights, she would be in there for 8-9 hours before she woke up and I put her on the pad. Now, she won't potty if I am not home (unless she's desperate). Usually I leave for work in the morning, and when I come home the pad is still clean or she has only peed on it once. She NEVER poops if she is alone. If we go out to run errands, and take her with us, she will hold it as long as we are away from home. So, they definetly start to hold it for longer periods of time as they get older. |
I used to think the same thing about Indiana! He never peed on me, but i would take him out and he would go, then when we would come in he would play with my other dogs and pee again in 5 minutes. It does get better. He is now 6months and just getting what I would call good at holding it. He only just started going to the door in the last week. He's really good in the crate though, and sleeps 8 hours at night without an accident. Just stay consistent and don't give up! |
Coco would also pee every 15-20 minutes till she was much older but never on me. I think crate training or baracading her in a small section will help a lot. Coco was able to hold it ALL day for like 8 hours while I was at work. Sometimes she'd couldn't hold it and went in her crate but for the most part she didn't want to go until I got home. Now she's potty trained and she has held it overnight since I got her. Occasionally she will have to go in the middle of the night but she wakes me up by walking on my face to alert me of her potty situation. |
