What's this about Nutri-Cal that I've been reading? Did you give it to your Yorkie when he was a pup and what exactly does it do/is it for?

I'm giving it to Belle...she's 8 weeks.

It keeps blood sugar up and prevents hypoglycemia. :)

Yes thats really good for your new puppy....You can give it to them till 8 months old....Pretty much its so sugar wont go down....They love it...Just put about 1 inch on your finger and put it close to his or her nose and will lick right off

I gave it to Britney occasionally and a couple of times to Coral but not at all to Brooklyn.

You can use white karo syrup, works well too, and that's what my vet recommends. The thing is, they don't have to have it if they're eating/drinking, etc. My first yorkie I got before she was quite 7 weeks old, she never needed it. Usually they get hypoglycemia(if they're going to get it) up to 12 weeks. After that, most of them don't need it anymore, unless they're super tiny or aren't eating/drinking

Despite some who sometimes say "it's all sugar!" - you can see for yourself below that although there is sugar - it is actually quite a good supplement (the point is, it's a supplement that you can get them to take, quickly, when needed):

It is VERY helpful for dogs under stress, hypoglycemia, emergencies, or when a new puppy comes to the home (you can give prophylactically in that case, to avoid hypo and help w/ stress).

Stormy has been getting some everyday for the past week since the accident so her sugars are up, We had a scare when we first got her two months ago. I got the puppy one and she enjoys it, it's nice to have a little extra reassurance sometimes with these little babies

I give my Ewok Nutrical still about 2 inches long of it since he was a baby. He is 9 months now and I also give him 2 tablespoons Mybeau(not available in states). My vet says nutrical is not that great and its more like a treat.
