Licking paws and losing hair all over body! I have a 9 year old yorkie and she was licking her paws constantly. Then she started to lose hair all over. Now she has a peculiar odor. I took her to the vet and was told that it was a yeast overgrowth caused by fleas. My vet gave me seborrhea fighting shampoo but she is still scratching and losing more hair. I have her on comfortis flea medicine. Now she does't want to eat. How can I treat a yeast overgrowth?? I am very worried about her and I want to make sure that she is treated internally as well as externally. HELP!!!!:( |
bumping this so somone can help |
I'm hoping someone, with more knowledge on YT, can help you with this. Could you take your furbaby to a vet dermatologist for a better diagnosis? |
Many vets are now starting to use Diflucan - and I would use it in a heartbeat if my dog had yeast (as long as the liver is fine) - bc yeast is terrible to get rid of! Another choice would be a regimen of oral Nystatin. Externally, you may want to look into colloidal silver. |
