feeding? Hi everyone!:p It's great to be a new member! I have a 1 yr old yorkie. She doesn't eat well. I was told she would become a better eater if I feed her at scheduled times rather than leave food out all day for her? I'm worried if she doesn't have access to food whenever she may need it because of the low blood sugar reputation yorkies have. Is this low blood sugar even still a potential problem at this age? And should I only be feeding her dry food? |
I leave food for Harley out all the time, he is almost 7 months old. He became a much better eater when he started going to daycare some where he does not have access to food all the time. Although at home, it is down all the time, he will usually eat a serving in the morning, I will refill his bowl and he will leave it alone until the afternoon and eat another serving. He will rarely take more than a few nibbles though out the day. I only feed Harley dry kibble, partially because I am afraid that if I let him have any wet that is all that he will want! What food do you feed ? |
Thanks for the fast reply's! The dry food I have used is Nutro Ultra but I just switched to a brand called Verus. She treats both of them the same. I throw so much food out. In fact she just started pushing all of her kibbles out of the bowel and all over the floor.?? The can food I use is Nutro or Wellness. I also heard it's best to feed only dry food because it's better for her teeth.:D |
I feed my dogs taste of the wild and they love it. It has alot more meat than the foods you mentioned, so might taste better. A Yorkie at any age can have low blood sugar but usually not as easily as when they are babies. |
