Pet Medical Insurance? I received a flyer for VPI Pet Insurance at the emergency room with Alfie last weekend...(he had a run in with a spider that must have bit him.. he had a swollen nose LOL)... he is all better now. But... I have been online looking at all their info... Does anyone have this... or another and what is your suggestions? Better safe than sorry, but is it worth it really? What's everyone think... I need info...:D |
It is worth it if you have unexpected accidents and illnesses as those can run into the thousands. See link Pet Insurance Review so that you can make an informed decision that you are comfortable with and your pocket book. |
This is my worry.... of course I go on thinking that my baby will be perfect..*crossing fingers*.. but this trip we had to the emergency room taught me a good lesson, just like a baby in an instant something could happen/change and we have to just run to the Doctor or in this case VET...LOL It was scary and it would have been worse if it was something worse..*knock on wood that never happens*.. and I couldn't afford the procedure costs or something... I wouldnt be able to handle that... but with Insurance I was thinking it might be a little easier.... Thanks for the link, I am going to take a look at it for sure!! :p  Quote:

I have it on my 3 yorkies. Cali has used it a lot unfortunately but knock on wood not the others. I just like knowing we're covered. I have VPI |
I got insurance after getting a $3400 to fix a fractured leg. I couldn't afford but all worked out well for my dog. Thank god. |
I purchased ASPCA pet insurance. I got the plan that included neutering. Plan paid less than half the $400 cost of neutering. They've been good about payment for other things. Paperwork is a nuisance. Plan is up for renewal next March, and then I'll do a cost benefit analysis to see if I continue with ASPCA, or another plan, or none. Likely I'll get continue to have a plan for peace of mind. |
I have been looking into insurance myself and I have narrowed it down to pet first and pet plan they seem to have the best coverage. Does anyone have either of these? |
I am alos looking into pet insurance...in NJ ...no idea of what to get. Suggestions would be great? I'm going to go on that link posted though and see what those options imply. |
VPI was offered through my husbands work but after carefully reading the coverage I liked Pet Plan better. |
I have pets best out of boise idaho they are rated pretty high. Vpi pays certain amounts for certain things, pets best pays 80%. VPI is not rated very high, on the rating that I looked at last. |
Spike and I have PetPlan. So far I've had no need to use it (knock on wood!). I got it because someone I know ended up spending $5000 on his cat when she got a tumour in her bowel. Ironically, the post-operative care cost more than the actual treatment, because she spent three days at the emergency vet recovering, and then was on IV antibiotics for weeks. I got it simply because I never wanted to be in a position where financial considerations would impact Spike's treatment. If he ever got sick or injured, I want him to have the best care possible. Getting insurance takes a lot of the financial worry away. |
