yorkie weight guessimate my baby was 1.4 lbs a few days before she turned 7 weeks..what is your best guesstimate of what her full grown weight would be??? |
4.5 lbs |
The general rule of thumb is triple the 8 week weight and double the 12 week weight. Keep in mind doubling the 12 week weight is seen as a very rough estimate (and tripling the 8 week weight is an even rougher estimate). Dogs are unique and can be way over or way under what their estimated weight is. But yeah, that's a good estimate. :D |
sometimes they can really shock ya. I was told they are full size at about 6 months. Aurora will be 2 in Jan and she is still growing. Not just getting more weight on her, but getting longer and taller. She was about 6-7 lbs, went up to 8 lbs. She is now 10.5 lbs and she isn't slowing down on growing yet. I love at some of her puppy clothes and wonder what happened to my little baby at times....LOL. She is definately not overweight or anything. I just thought the growing would be done by now. |
The tripling their weight at 8 weeks is really unreliable. A closer estimate would be doubling her 12 week weight. Even that is a guess and as someone earlier mentioned...they do not stop growing at 6 months. There's usually a growth spurt in the 6 - 8 months range. |
Now, I'm wondering is she 1.4 lbs? I think some people get confused on the way this is done..you have to remember, unless they use a baby scale, on those big scales, 1.4 wouldn't be 1 lb 4 oz, it would be almost 1 1/2 lbs, as their scales only go by 10ths, which on the big scales, 1.5 would be 1 1/2 lbs. that was always so confusing to me, but, did finally figure out the easy way to figure..:) |

I've converted the weight to 10ths before....and it was still very close. Off perhaps by 2 ounces. |
my little Lillie was 1.8 lbs at 8 wks old...she is now 1 1/2 yrs old and weighs 4 1/2 lbs. |
It really depends on the weight of her parents, you would usually average them. My Petrie is 1yr old now and is approx. 5lbs. but girls tend to weigh a little less than boys, so probably about 4 lbs =) |
