My yorkie makes gargled, snorting sounds My Coco, a male 16mo. makes a sort of a gargled type snorting noise whenever he has a toy or something in his mouth I don't know what it is. He doesn't do it when he is doing anything else like sleeping or playing with my other yorkie. Pebbles doesn't do it at all. Abby makes a snorting noise when she's excited, like when I first come home. I call it her piggy noise. I don't know why she does it either. I think maybe I'll ask the vet about it when we see them next...if I remember. |
mine has a collapsed trachea and he makes that sound.:( |
Gracie will make growling, yammering noises walking around with a toy in her mouth when she's playing. You just know she's carrying on entire conversations with whatever she's playing with. Could he be doing that? |
Lexi has always been a vocal one, she doesn't bark often but she is always grunting snorting and garling. I think some animals are just more vocal than others, my cat is the same way, she makes the weirdest sounds! |
It could just be reversed sneezzing but you should have it checkiied for collapsed trachea to be sure its not |
Could it really be a collapsed trachea. Ya think?? He is fine other wise. He sleeps good, eats good. He never makes this noise unless he is running around with a toy in his mouth. He was just at the vet for his one year check up and he was fine. What other symptoms are there related to a collapsed trachea? I'm trying to figure this out. They can have trouble breathing when they have CT also. It is best to have it checked out anyway even if you just suspect its reverse sneezing which it most likely is. Someone on here thought her dog had the reverse sneezing but it ended up being collapsed trachea. By the time she got treatment for it it was too advanced and she had to put the dog to sleep |

Edgar becomes very violent with his toys. He growls with them in his mouth and shakes them side to side. The more he shakes, the more he growls. If they aren't 'animals' he will lay on his back with it in his paws and sort of grunt with satisfaction as he chews. Now,when I get 'animals' or ropes for him, I hold them in the middle and shake them like turning a doorknob back and forth. If the sides smack my hands, I know he'll LOVE it. I think this is how their ancestors killed the 'animal' by breaking it's neck/back. He's so hilarious. He also makes a piggy snort that is not the same as his reverse sneezing. I love it. Especially since he's the size of a small pig! |
May be reverse sneezing I heard about this being common in Yorkies. The only time I've heard mine make a similar sound is when she pulls on her little leash trying to hurry to great the neighbors dog :) |
I've had my baby for 7mo I rescued him and he is wonderful but i'm alitttle stressed right now he has started snorting when he gets excited and sometimes in is sleep I'm a new mom help!:confused: |
Thanks jenniferliegh I read the info about ct and it was very helpfull at least now when we go to his vet I know what he'a talking about Thanks again |
Please take him to the vet to checked, my Yorkie Sophie Kate has CT but from what my vet tells me it is minor and we became aware of it very early. There is special care I have to take with her, I watch her diet and keep her weight down, get short amounts of exercise at least twice a day. Good luck. |
