I am so confused!!!! Good Grief this food business is so confusing. I feel lost right now. I hope someone can shed some light for me. Moose had been on Innova for almost 2 years. (first puppy then adult) His stools had always been sort of loose, not always but it was a norm. I switched him and Mimi to Canidae ASL a couple of months ago. Moose's stool has firmed up a lot, but he seems to be ITCHING a lot!! I want to try something else, but not sure what. The feed store where I get the food from is pushing California Natural~~Lamb and rice or Herring and Sweet Potato. This is only a 4 star rating and I was thinking I wanted to stay in a 5 star rating. She said she can order any food that I choose.....if they don't already have it. Can anyone help me see the light at the end of this long dark tunnel?? BTW....I really don't have the time to home cook, and the raw... So I really want to stay with dry kibble. :animal-pa |
If she is willing to get anything, I'd ask her to get you some Orijen 6-Fish - hands down :)! I feed raw, but if I was forced to feed kibble - it'd be Orijen. A fish kibble would be a great thing to try if you want to rule out meat allergies. |
I had mine on Innova puppy then adult for years and had the same issues. I started using California Natural Lamb and Rice about 6 months ago and things are much better. The only time I see loose stool now is if someone sneaks a few pieces of Molly's puppy food at dinner time...she's expecting so she eats the puppy food...other than that I haven't seen any loose stool. I'm not sure I'll keep them on it forever but I don't want to switch just yet. |

I always thought you should never get food that said the first ingredients as a "meal" .......chicken meal, turkey meal, etc oppose to just "turkey, chicken" etc. Is this true? She said it is not true. |

Ingredients with "meal" following it is good :) It is a "concentrated" meat source. Canidae have changed recipe, I don't know if that is causing their itching. It's not as good as it used to be. From dogfoodproject.com: Quote:
I feed Orijen. I'm VERY satisfied. :) |
