trembling we brought an 8-month old home from a breeder 3 days ago. we know he is still getting used to our house, but he seems scared of noises and trembles ALOT. now we're worried that there's something wrong with him and that's why he was still at the breeder's after 8 months. this is our first dog ever, so we have no idea what is normal, and we're worried. is this typical for the first few days in a new place, or is something wrong? we're taking him to the vet in a few days, but we'd like opinions please. Thanks! |

Did you get to see what the environment was like at the breeders!? He may just be a little bit stressed out or just not really socialized that much. Is he eating, drinking, going to the bathroom? |

we did see the breeders - it didn't look bad - definitely not a puppy mill. he was definitely the most shy one, but not trembling and terrified like he has been at our house. there was several other yorkies he was with there. maybe he's also sad and misses them? he's definitely not eating and drinking as much as we'd like - probably about half of what he should be. he rarely pees, and has not gone #2 since we picked him up on sunday afternoon. |

He's a bit older and may not adjust as quickly as a younger puppy. I really think he's frightened by all the recent changes. Be patient, speak to him softly and lots of love ....he'll come around. On pooping...if nothing going in...nothing comes out. ;) I would venture to guess he'll probably go later today. |

Yorkies are nervous nellies Yorkies are normally high-strung and shake at times. At the risk of asking a stupid question, is he/she cold? If the dogs are in a cold climate and they don't have alot of body fat, they get cold easily. Your pooch is probably nervous at the changes, noises, smells, etc. in his/her new home. Give it some time, cuddle him/her alot, whisper to him/her and do everything you can to convey security. Dogs are sensitive and pick up on thier human's nervousness also. So try and relax and do lots of cuddling. |

When I got Pixie she was 13 months old and kept in the breeders basement. So she was scared of noises and very skittish at first. It took a few days and I also have other dogs so she felt comfortable with them. Just give him time and expose him to a lot of different experiences. Congratulations! |

awww, hold him tight , hug him, and just love him |

Since he is older I am sure he is just afraid, it will pass with time. Just show him lots of love and play time and he will adjust. Make sure he is eating and drinking, sometimes it helps to hand feed them if they are afraid. |
