FORBID Question- Please Help Hey everyone! Havent been on in a while! I am having a problem with my pup and I wanted to see if there were any suggestions. My partner has a daschund and she pee's and poo's on a pee pad. My dog unfortunately has been eating her poo. I try my hardest to pick the pads up and dispose of them before it happens, but sometimes I just dont get it in time! So the vet suggested getting FORBID. Has anyone tried this? And has there been any negative affects by it?? I would hate to get my partners dog sick because of my puppies bad habit! :(I've read she may grow out of it, but I dont foresee that happening anytime soon. Also, does anyone know if eating poo is harming my dog? This cant be good for her.. Please respond with any suggestions you may have! I really appreciate it. Thanks! |

FORBID is safe, but I dont think it works all that great! you can try giving the dogs fresh pineapple, because it will make the poop taste really nasty!!!! |
Pineapple works really well. I added a spoon full of canned pineapple to my boys food and it did the trick. |

That is what i figured. You can also use meat tendorizor as well, sprinkle a bit on the food. I have never had an issue with any of my dogs eating poop! :D |

Hey guys! Thanks for the responses. ;) Just to be clear, should I be giving pinneaples to MY dog or my partners dog?? |
You should be giving it to your partner's dog. The pineapple makes their poop taste bad and that's how it deters them from eating it. Quote:

I have a Japanese Chin, 7 years old, that has done this all his life. It won't hurt him -- it's just a nasty thing to deal with. |

what about goose poop!?!?!? My dogs used to eat that all the time!!!!! :D |
the funny thing about poop-eating... I've had quite a few terriers, and a few of them with the poop eating problem. With my australian, Forbid worked in just a few days. With Tasha, when I stop using it, she reverts back. What is FUNNY, is that on the package says it imparts a distasteful flavor to the feces...AS IF the poop doesn't taste bad enough on its' own? LOL!!! And HOW do they know the stuff makes the poop taste bad? Who tests this stuff? ROFL! Just funny! |

But supposedly after the dog stops eating it because its nasty they wont revert back to it.. but im reading that that isnt always the case. Dont want to give FORBID and pinneaples to the other dog forever! O well, i'll give it a try.. thanks! |
