Problem: Watches me eat & won't eat... ...but he does eventually. He thinks I am going to give him some of my food. Now and then I do, which probably caused the whole problem to begin. I took his bowl away numerous of times, which he saw. He walked over to the area I put his food & water. He sniffed, walked away...and followed me back into the kitchen. After about 20 mins of this, taking food away & putting it down numerous of times....he ate. Anyone else have this issue. Will he ever eat and not pay so much attention to what I have on my plate~? Thanks :animal-pa |
well your picking up his plate and putting it down is really only adding to the problem.. he doesn't care yout ake it away because he knows you'll bring it back. When you are eating he needs to be in another room or in his crate in another room. Then when you are done let him in and then give him his food. It sounds like you free feed which is ok but if you are in control of the food he knows where it is coming from and that it isn't just "free". It puts you in control... just something to think about. |
Well, he looked worried that I was taking it away. He stood by the mat and waited till I put it down....sniffed and walked away. I have never heard of "free food". But the problem is "routine". I don't have one. Each day is different for me. In the am, I have to leave early for a meeting and won't be back till mid-late afternoon. He usually freaks out each time this has happened. I did the 30 min routine for a while...it worked sometimes and other times, it didn't. |
