Ticks! Still!!!!??? This morning I was petting my dexter and found a tick on him. It was not TINY but it was not one that would get hugely massive either. It had already had the head in him and was getting bigger. :( I think it may have gotten on him thursday night. IF it was a deer tick (which I have NO idea what those look like) how would I know if he got lymes disease? I took the tick out with tweezers, definately got the head and put alcohol on the bite. How long would it take him to get sick, if he gets sick? I don't know how long it takes to transmit lymes disease. Im worried sick! :( What are signs I should be looking for? I so wish I didn't have to worry about this problem! I would think by mid/late October the ticks would be gone by now!!! My poor little man. Im going to be doing full body scans on both my boys tonight to make sure there are no more ticks. I caught this one by chance but I was on my way out to work so I didnt have time to look for more on either boy. |
EWWW, I can't believe there are still ticks either. Ugh! I'll be glad when we can all have a piece of mind away from all these nasty bugs. I'm not sure about your questions though so BUMP~ |
I pulled one out of Hallie head yesterday too. Is he vaccinated against Lyme's? I think they can do blood work to find out if he's infected but I'm not positive. Aren't they just disgusting? |
No problem all summer We didn't see any ticks all summer. All of a sudden since last week I have found one on each of my 2 cats and 2 on my floor. And one on my bed. Gross. And I just put on everyones Front line last week for this month. I hate ticks my husband suffered from Chronic lyme disease for 3 years from a tick bite. :) |
I feel ya on this. I have been battling with fleas for about a month now, and I think we are FINALLY flea free- I would just tell you to continue frontline for the entire winter since they have been bad this season! some dogs have lyme disease and dont show signs of it....and they will use doxycycline to help it! just like in humans! good luck! |
yes its sooooo disgusting! I am always horrified when I find a tick. Its not often but YUCK YUCK!!! So just keep an eye on him and watch for limping or something? I guess Im going to bathe them tonight, make sure no ticks are left and then put on frontline. Actually bathe and frontline tomorrow night, tonight just pick out any more and pray there are no more! |
the main sign is lameness in the hind legs...but if he is of age, have them do the bloodtest for it....usually with the heartworm test! it should be a snap 3 test! just ask your vet! |
We just had a go-round with ticks for the last 3 weeks. I finally had to have a pro come spray the yard. (I hate poisons). So Katy Lou did not get to play outside and she loves it outside. So far in the past week I have only found one tiny unattached one. Katy has only had one attached between her little toes. They are disgusting. I pray that is the end of them. |
