Lyme Disease This is an answer I just could not find on the internet. I was wondering if a female dog who has Lyme disease could potentially pass it along to her pups? (Hypathetical) also, Isn't Lyme Disease curable? Can a Dog pass it to another dog? I was just wondering becuase I was reading some material on it and these are the questions that they did not discuss. So now I must know. LOL. |
Lyme disease in dogs is easily treated with inexpensive antibotics. Lyme Disease - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! |
I was told by my vet that no, it isn't possible for a mother to pass it along to her babies. To get it, the dog has to be bitten/infected with it, and it doesn't pass from dog to dog. |

Interesting. Thanks. I was so curious I just had to know. I don't own a female, but Tino is a stud dog and I worry about all of those things. Hence why I have each bitch tested and cleared by a vet before entering the breeding program with Tino.:) Thanks again for the knowledge. |
they usually give doxycycline for 2 weeks to help treat lymes in people and in dogs. it can get pretty pricey---and some dogs have it, but never show signs of it! lameness in the hind legs is a number 1 watch out for the disease  |
