Small Yorkie Pup Still Not Eating... Hello All, I posted earlier about my small Yorkie puppy who is showing absolutely no signs of an appetite. He is 0.9 pounds and almost three months. I tried smashing his food up and feeding it to him, but he spits it back out. All he's eating is the NutriCal. I'm getting worried because I've noticed he's acting very sluggish and not showing any personality. He has a vet appointment tomorrow and I'm planning on going to buy a blender today and a bottle from the pet store. Do you guys think that feeding him with a bottle will work? Please let me know any thoughts and suggestions, as well as some good pet food brands. Thank you all so much! |

Ok, I don't want to scare you, but this really, really sounds serious. Almost 3 months old and weighing that little. :( Him not having an appetite, being so little and being sluggish, etc... I would really, really be concerned that this little fella may have liver issues - either Liver Shunt or MVD I would get him to a VERY GOOD Vet - one that has experience with Small Breeds (preferably Yorkies) and get on top of this ASAP. LS/MVD dogs usually are very picky eaters b/c the 'wrong' foods are given to them, foods too high in protein cause toxins to build up in them making them feel sick, hence they don't want to eat :( I wouldn't be taking ANY chance with a 3 months old weighing that little and with the other symptoms, etc... PLEASE KEEP US POSTED |

If he isn't growing and this has been going on, it sounds like he needs to be seen today and go to a specialist immediately. Maybe it is just that he is very small and doesn't like to eat but then he will probably need to be bottle or tube fed. Does he ever get shaky, run into things, walk around in circles, throw up or have diarrhea? |
