Dry hair...... My Lucille is a little over a year old and she does have problematic, dry skin. I switched her food to orijen and it seems better. But after her last grooming appointment (about a month ago) I've noticed her fur became dry and it doesn't grow  the hair on her head even frizzes a little and breaks..... I can't figure out what it might be. Should I give her some kind of vitamins? Or maybe just fish/salmon oil on her food? What could it be? Please, any advice will help! Thanks. |
wow... were kinda on the same page here! i thought i was reading my own post! ...lol;) My Guidoune is 7 years old and she had really bad dry skin, irritable, red, flaky, and the top of her neck her hair was maybe 2 inches long where as it use to be so long and touch the ground like the rest of her hair. I figured food related allergies (grains/fillers) so i switched to Orijen which had helped about 80% which is terrific and i couldn't be more pleased with such a quick change, but it hasn't cured the problem, so i looking into oatmeal/soothing shampoos for her. If you get any great suggestions please email me... Best wishes, Thank you |
i'm confused.... I switched to oatmeal shampoo a long time ago.......and the Orijen helped with dry skin for sure. But this condition is recent, only after this last groomer. And I did specify for them to use the oatmeal shampoo..... Will buy salmon oil for her tomorrow, and mix it in with the dry food..... I was wondering may be there are some sort of vitamins that can help? |
I tried fish oil capsules, (their big) i would give it once or twice a week and was recommended only a few squirts, it worked too! I beleive with the orijen, fish oil capsules and the oatmeal i will be sure to see great results all together on a regular basis. I also tried putting baby oil in her bath water, although she was my tiny grease ball for a few days it did releive her skin for a few weeks. And i was told i should be giving vit. e as well. Here is what i was recomended, hope it helps! "Hi! The fish oil capsules- dont' give her the whole thing... just a few drops from it... when i gave it to Layla i would just wrap it in saran for the next day. Also you should be giving Vit E with it as well. have you tried an oatmeal bath? When Layla had her skin issues i would put quick oats in a nylon, tie it up and almost use it as a sponge when i bathed her.. it REALLY helped!" Hope this helps! Good luck! Quote:
