Diarrhea Diet? Layla has horrible diarrhea today... who knows why... i think it's from the day at the sitter's yesterday... she gets very worked up (excited) ... who knows... anyways... she can't have boiled chicken because she is allergic to it... what else can i give her for bland diet??? |
Oh poor punkin'!!! What about mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs? Can she have eggs? |
Mashed potatoes or white rice or maybe even sweet potato. Then you could add a protein. Fish if it sets well for her? Tough one. I don't usually say hamburger because it is so fatty. If she does well on beef though you could try very lean hamburger if you think it's okay. Then when she starts to get better I'd probably add in green beans. You can go a different way and give yogurt with active cultures and banana if she tolerates it. Or you could give bread, toast or crackers |
Oh i JUST bought sweet potato and extra lean ground beef. We also have yogurt.. i'll give her some of that... and she LOVES scrambled egg. Thanks ladies...i KNEW It would be you two that posted :D i can always count on you ladies for great advice. Layla's hiney says thanks too :p Crystal cooked green beans or raw? |

If you don't want to use potato you can use mashed pumpkin too;) |

I wonder if cooking destroys some of the pesticides? In the case of green beans though, aren't some of them waxed (and shouldn't be given raw)? |
:) I think raw veggie are great, but only if your babe can handle it - and lots of doggies can't. So, then - you can either steam them and give. Or, steam and puree (even less digestive stress w/ pureeing bc the body doesn't have to work to break them down). The advantage to feeding raw veg is that you don't cook the vits/mins out of them - but a lot of dogs just don't do too well. Since Layla is having some issues, I'd probably err on the side of cooking (i.e. "starting" the digestive process for her) the beans. :) |

Another example is when Marcel was on his hypoallergenic fish-pot.-grn bean diet - one of his nutritionist's main goals was that his sm. intestine was to rest (and therefore be allowed to heal) - SO, therefore - steam and puree all veggie to place as little stress as possible on his digestive process/system. So we could apply that too to a sick doggy (stress the system as little as possible - esp. w/ something like veg. which can be difficult for them to break down). :) |

Layla is so funny.. i made her salmon and Haddock.... she ate the salmon and left the haddock... i'm thinking... spoiled :p |
Hmm, maybe if she has never had beans before you should go with something else. They would be good for her stomach but then again, maybe not hers? Lol, do it if you're daring.;) You could skip the veggie for tonight or give something else that usually settles well for her. I would not give broccoli or cauliflower right now. |
