wellness help! Ok so I switched my puppy from Royal Canin which she was itching real bad on also I heard it is not that good. I switched her to wellness just for puppy the kibbles are too big! So I call Wellness they told me for a yorkie I should feed her Wellness small breed formula that came out a few weeks ago. Has anyone tried this or which wellness were you feeding your dogs? This is like th 4th bag of dog food I have had to return cause I keep getting the wrong ones. Is wellness good? |
Yes wellness is a good food, but I agree the kibble was bigger. I never fed the small breed variety though. |
I tried Wellness, but of course, Max did not like it either.I was not able to find small bites. |
I dealt with allergies too. I have mine on Wellness Simple Soulutions. With food allergies I was told go to a simple protein source food. Not chicken and beef mixed etc.. I have mine on Venison and Potato. Working very well so far. Also limit treast to a single protien source too. Like I use ONLY Venison Jerky treats also by wellness. The least amounts of ingredients the less of a chance of reacting if that makes sense. And ALWAYS try and go grain free. Here is what i use Wellness Simple soultions Venison Wellness Jerky Treats Wellness canned Venison and sweet potato. ALL the same single protein source. All ingreds. are on their site if you wanna read about them. I too have tried many many food this one is FINALLY working. Good luck! |

Oh yes good point. Mine both have MUCH less smellier poop and now poo 2 times a day instead of 3 :) |
I just switched to Wellness. Less poop and also firmer, not mushy. |
I have no personal experience, but if I feed Wellness, I would feed canned or Core :) |

We feed Chewy the Super 5 Mix for Puppies. He seems to like it and is doing well on it. Poops twice a day and always firm. I like that it is corn and grain free. |

I like Welliness. I buy the canned and the grain free. I leave the kibble out all the time. I haven't been able to find the small bites either. |
The Just for Puppies kibble is TINY! It's so weird to me that you think it's large. We just switched Franklin off the JfP and onto Core. Now both of my babies are on Core. We love it! Now THAT kibble is HUGE... but they have no problem with it. |
I know of a girl who CUTS THE KIBBLE BY HALF WITH SCISSORS UNTIL HER HANDS ARE ALL SWOLLEN.:eek::eek: She fed Orijen to her Poms. I don't know why she does that. Mocha eats her Orijen just fine. She was afraid of choking I guess. In the end she switched to Acana.:D |

Wellness FTW! When I got my puppy the lady was feeding him Bill-Jac and I already knew I wanted to feed him Wellness. I'm still weaning him off Bill-Jac (I think that's making his poop smell really bad) but I have noticed he does poop nearly 2 times a day and that's it. He seems to love it and I have the puppy treats and he loves that as well! |
I just switched Rocky to Wellness COREŽ Ocean Formula (DRY) Grain-Free, Protein-Focused Nutrition with Nothing in Excess and Everything in Balance For Dogs - Grain-Free, Protein-Focused Formulas I agree the kibbles are a little big but Rocky loves crunching on them. Love that his poop dosent smell as strong and it is a little firmer thank goodness saves me on wee wee pads! |
I feed my little 2 pound Teddy Wellness Just for Puppy and he has no trouble with the size of the kibble. It's a great food and he seems to really like it. It took Teddy several weeks after making the switch completely to this food for his body to get used to it. And during that time I wanted to switch him again to something else. He was pooping firm stools 5-6 times a day for about the first month, but now he's back to about 2-3 stools a day so I'm glad we stuck it out with Wellness. :) |
Please disregard this post. |
Wellness Simple I haven't posted in a long time, but wanted to share. My girl Ginger had skin allergies that made me hurt. ALWAYS scratching. We were going to the vet for steroids, special shampoo, the whole gambit. My vet recommended taking beef and chicken out of her diet. I have for the last six months. She is doing great. She isn't chewing her paws and she doesn't have all those bumps anymore. The girls get Wellness Simple for dry kibble, lamb treats, and venison jerky. For breakfast, I make them food. Once a week, I cook up a pot of food and separate it into 14 (1/2 cup) containers, freezing 4 days worth, and leaving 3 days in the fridge. If anyone wants to try it, here is the recipe I use. 6 cups water 2 cups brown rice 1 lb ground turkey 1 tsp rosemary Boil for 20 minutes Add 1 bag (about 4 cups) California blend vegies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots), which I grind up in the food processor. Simmer 5 more minutes Let set to cool and thicken, then put in containers. I have teapots, not little ones (11 and 13 pounds!) so 1/2 cup each is good for them, but you could adjust the amount. It is a little more work then opening a can, but in the end, less expensive. And no skin allergies is very worth it! And they absolutely love it! It did take a few months to work, and no chicken and beef is tough (I still sneak Glory chicken treats occasionally), but they are happier. |
i just switched my 2 month old baby girl to wellness just for puppys she loves. the dry food aka kibble i give her halo its for puppies as well and its great much smaller she loves it!! |
