Loosing teeth at 4 months? Is 4 months too early for them to loose teeth? Wrigley turned 4 months on the 24th and I noticed the other day that he has lost his bottom two front teeth, and one of his top front teeth is loose. Is this too early? And if so, what does that mean for him? We go to the vet today for his last puppy shot, so maybe they can tell me, though this is the last time we will be going to this vet, as I don't think they know much about small breeds. Specifically Yorkies, he told me last time that Yorkie's ears don't normally stand up.... lol |
It sounds like your baby is teething. This takes several months...be prepared for lots of chewing and really bad breath! Also, not all Yorkie ears will stand on their own and some will never stand. You may need to shave the hair from the ear or even do some taping to get them to stand but they will go up and down until they get through the teething stage. |
His ears are starting to stand even though he is teething, I trimmed his ears about 3 weeks ago because they weren't standing up. But they are now (well they are standing up in a floppy way at least) I have heard that teething causes them to flop a little. Thanks :) |

When should they have lost all their teeth?? Bella had one of her front dewclaws grow back (or at least part of it, it's pretty tiny), and the vet who did that surgery when she was a brand new and obviously still with the breeder said he would fix it after all her teeth were in (in case she needed to have some extracted--that way, only under anesthesia once!). I wouldn't bother with fixing it, but it must be sensitive because it bothers her when you mess with it at all.... |
Puppies can teeth up until a year but are usually done a month or two before that. Some may retain puppy teeth that need to be pulled though...you should have your vet check their mouth to make sure nothing is pushing their bite off in a bad direction. Brushing does help temporarily but when they're teething there is no real cure for that dragon breath until they're done! |
Am I lucky? Because I know Mocha is still teething yet I find her breath.. not smelly at all lol! I wonder what that means.. I may be biased, or she just has great breath :D One time I saw the Kong was a lil bloody, I panicked and checked both dogs to see who was bleeding, but I couldn't find the source.. The next day there was a tooth that looks like a tiny molar on the floor, and I almost freaked  I checked both dogs again, and I found out Mocha has lost the her left back tooth. I KNOW it's normal, but it was very alarming just the same lol :D Now she's still biting this and that, although never teh furniture thank god. |
Our 2 yr old chi/terrier, Mia, started teething at 3-4 months old and Rocco, our porky, started at 5 months. We give them softer chews like pig or lambs ears to help the teeth out. Good luck and be sure to save all of those baby teeth!:aimeeyork |

I'm sorry! :( We've only been able to save 2 teeth from each of the dogs we've had.....I guess we were lucky to get those. Our daughter has a tiny trinket box with the teeth of all the dogs, my husband thinks it's odd:rolleyes:! Rocco politely spits them out on our laps, he is such a ham about things. |
