Lily vomited - should I worry?
 
Lily vomited after she was playing tonight. This is the first time she has done this. Should I be concerned? Could it be because she was playing hard after she ate?

This is gross, but did you look at it? Was there anything in it other than food? How old is Lily?

how old is she? how long after she ate did she throw up? Was there food in it? how much does she weigh. are you able to get her to eat anything now?

She is 13 weeks old. It was all food. She seems fine. It was about 1/4 cup. Lily just had shots yesterday.

It was probably a few hours later when she vomited. She weighs 4 1/2 pounds. I am in the process of changing her food from Nutro to Wellness.

and there we go... lol... i'd say the shots... mixed with the food and the intense playing AFTER eating are probably the culprits. Shots are hard on them especially when they are so young. Was it a combo shot (did she get more than one .. not necissarily more than one shot but more than one "vaccine" in the single shot)? it's importnat when they are so young that they only get one at a time... a few weeks apart.... and shots like Lepto, Corona and Bordatella and not needed so see if they will be given to her in the future and insist that she not get them. Also keep in mind she might be swollen tomorrow and for a while after where the shot was.. this is normal. It is also normal that she be a bit "Sleepy" tomorrow and the next day... just make sure she is eating ok and keeping it down :)

good job making that change! you are making a great decison. this can also affect her tummy.

Of course the vet doesn't tell you that! I will be going back to our normal vet. I don't have to pay for the spaying if I take her there. Once that is done back to our favorite vet. She had Bordetella yesterday and also DHP, two shots which she hated and cried. This really makes me angry! What do they do that, to get more money? Do they care about the animals? This vet also said Nutro is a good food when I told them I was switching to Wellness! He asked me why and I told him Nutro has recalls. :mad:

lol no problem! Now that you know you gotta speak up for your pup. and when it comes time to her having her rabies.. make sure it is at least 2 weeks apart from any other vaccines. Rabies can be particularily hard on them. Also make sure they do blood work before her spay and they send you home with pain meds.

unless you KNOW Lepto is in your region and you have an "outside dog" which i'm sure you don't :p she doens't need it.

Corona is NOT supposed ot be given to small dogs AT ALL.

Bordatella.. this is your call.... i don't give it. Layla had the shot and then still contracted kennel cough... it's kinda like the flu shot.

The main idea is over vaccinating... dogs are being vaccinated TOO MUCh.. they don't need yearly (your next hurdle is to see if you can get a 3 or 5 year vaccine... or better yet... none at all past 1 year- i'm currently working on this!! gotta sway my vet :) she's great). vaccines. So if you can eliminate 3 vaccines that are a) not needed and b) have been known to cause death due to the reaction the dog has. You only want core vaccines and these are just not needed. The vets give it cause they can charge you more!
