I switched to Prey Model Raw!
 
I've been feeding Nature's Variety raw to Lacy for over 2 years now and about 4 months to Rylie, but the prices were getting crazy so I finally decided to make the switch to Prey Model Raw since I've always felt it was best anyway AND it is SOOOO much cheaper!! So I switched to PMR yesterday!

Yesterday breakfast was some boneless pork, a small piece of liver & fish oil. Dinner was a chicken leg...I let them chew it down halfway and put it back int he fridge to finish for breakfast today. Then tonight they had some more pork, a tiny piece of liver and some raw egg..although they didn't want to eat any egg shell. Tomorrow is beef heart for breakfast and a chicken thigh for dinner.

I just wanted to let you all know we finally made the switch to PMR!

I'm feeding three dogs and two cats so I still keep some NV organic chix patties on hand for night snacks.

Remy's still a growing boy.........

oh my . . .how are they liking it? you say you got the leftover for another meal? does that mean they can never finish their food? :)

I am going to try and switch to RAW . . .I hope my furbabies will like it :p

I'm sure they would have finished the whole chicken leg in one meal if I'd let them but I thought that was a little too much for one meal so I made them stop half-way and finish it the next day.

TJ is back on NV - I want to go Prey, but still don't know how much each day?

He has gained 1 lb since being back on NV (not good) - I am walking them everyday, but don't see him loosing..

I bought chicken wings (defrosting today) and I plan to take off the skin and give him one for breakfast tomorrow to see if he likes it.

I also may give one to Roxy (although she can't go Raw) her teeth really need to 'work' on something :(

PMR stands for Prey Model Raw. It's just raw meat so you get it at the grocery store just like your own food.

Michele, How did they do on the pork?? I haven't tried any pork with mine yet. Did they have any poop problems with it??

They've done really well on it so far. Ada had told me that pork and chicken are good base meats for prey-model. I bought the bone-in pork chops and cubed up the meat. Ada said porkchop bones are sawed so they can be sharp and really aren't worth the risk...but bone-in pork chops are much cheaper so I'll probably keep buying those and just cut the meat off and throw the bone away. I want to get some short-ribs

That's good to know about the bones because I bought pork chops yesterday and thought I'd let the dogs chew on them but I will have to make sure they are not too sharp. I got chicken on sale yesterday, Foster Farms, whole chicken for .69 cents a pound!! I have to cut it up, but what a deal!!

that is a good deal! do you feed the chicken breast with rib bones?

I do feed the rib bones with the breast but I cut the breast into 3 pieces for 3 portions because the breasts are too big. Is it bad to feed those rib bones?? None of mine have choked but they have only had breast meat a few times.

I think it's probably fine. I was thinking about getting some breast with ribs if I see them for a good price and was just wondering if others feed them.

GOOD for you, Michelle!! Well, I should say - GOOD for Lacy and Riley, lol :D!!! How are they doing? Did they latch right on? Or, did they look at you and go "have you gone crazy, where are our Medallions and our bowls, please?" :p

Well...TJ and Roxy just ate a chix wing - yummy

Roxy went to town. She is sooooooooooooo wet (face and chest and paws) = bath time now

TJ didn't touch it with his paws. I saw him try to a couple of times, but I guess it felt funny to the touch. I held it for him a few times.

They both emjoyed the bones, I threw them away after they got really small.

They caught on right away, especially Rylie. He just tears into his chicken legs and thighs. They are getting a chicken foot tonight LOL yuck but they are a good source of glucosamine and they liked it last time they had one. Lacy is a little slower and does better if I hold it for her, but she gets it all eaten too. The are doing well. They did have medallions yesterday because we were traveling and this morning, but tonight they are having some pork and the chicken foot. I'm working on getting some fish, venison and dove..

mine don't really touch it with their paws either. Lacy doesn't get her face messy but rylie does because he is just a messy eater! I have just been washing his face off..just takes me a min so not too bad.
