Eye funk?
 
I have started to notice that even a day or two after I give her a bath my pup keeps getting eye boogers. They get really hard and pull on her hair when I try to get it out. HELP! I feel bad when it is just stuck down the side of her nose but she squeeks unless she is wet when I pull it out. Any suggestions? :confused:

Use a cotton ball with warm water on it and flea comb as well...when it is wet it is easier to get out and not painful, the flea comb will help get it out.

Totally agree with that statement. Thats the BEST way to do it. You can also use a washcloth and warm water, if the cotton ball upsets your pup!

This is also how I do it. It works great. Once the eye boogs are wet, they slide right out of the hair. I use a fine tooth grooming comb, which resembles a flea comb and it has a handle on it. Just get the area nice and damp, then comb downward from the corner of the eye. If theres a boog stuck really good in her muzzle, you can try to pinch the hair close to the skin with your fingers then work it out with the comb. So youre not pulling on the skin. The same way you work out mats.

I agree with all of the above. Eye crud is just part of having a yorkie. Their eyes can water and run quite a bit. It's definately best to make sure the hair is moist before trying to remove it. It hurts them pretty bad to try pulling that dry stuff out.

I also use a baby toothbrush with warm water.

I have my husband hold her while I do it. Its easier if you can use both hands.
