Yorkie losing hair Hi there, our yorkie, tico, is almost one year old. He has lost alittle hair right by his right leg. I am talking bald. It started at a little less than the size of a quarter, now it has got to about the size of a quarter. Anybody know what is happening here? |
How does the skin look where he is losing the hair. Is it red or inflamed? Any bumps? |
I've heard of some losing the hair at the site of an injection, but since the area is increasing that would bother me. Do you know if that was where he received one his shots? I'm one of those people who call the vet for things like this, it's good to have the vet check it out, and make sure it's not something more serious. |
no bumps nope, there is no bumps, and it is not red either. |
It could be a number of things allergies being one of them. I would have a vet take a look because they may want to do a skin scrape. Now saying that My Jewels when she was a pup lost a bunch of hair on her back and the vet did a skin scrape and nothing showed up. They put her on an antibiotic and her hair grew back and she had no more problems. When My other dog chachi lost hair he ended up having mitess so you never know |
I just had my little rescue's skin (Bella) skin scrapped for hair loss. I was strongly urged to have that done first. It came back negative, but there was still a skin infection which is more than likely from fleas. Not suggesting your baby had fleas, by any means, that was just Bella's situation. She's on antibiotics for skin infection and her hair is coming back in now! |
When my female went into heat the first time, she started losing hair, not bald spots just hair would be on the floor. We thought maybe it had something to do with her being in heat but we took her to the vet and he said she was probably allergic to beef protein and to change her to lamb and rice food, we did and it stopped, she hasn't lost any more and that's been almost a year ago, so if I were you I would definitely take your baby to the vet. Good Luck. Hopefully it will be something simple like ours was. Paula:D Halle:aimeeyork Brutis:aimeeyork |
Losing hair Hi; My Meghan, will be 2 in November.....she suddenly developed a bald patch above her left front leg.....I have been applying Neosporin to it 2 x a day and it is getting better. It is no longer red....never was bumpy or itchy....just a bald spot the size of a quarter. Hope this helps your little one. Meghans Mom:aimeeyork |
Phoebe-Leigh Hi Lee B The food make is Eukanuba Adult 1-7 Small Breed Chicken: Dried chicken and Turkey, maize, wheat , animal fat sorgum I can go on and on. The thing is that Phoebe eats the dry food first and then Emily will eat after her. And so on and so on. Emily likes to eat out of Phoebe's bowl. So I put one bowl done with dry food in so they can eat at any time they want. Fresh water near by at all times. Thanks for your quick respones. Laura |
