Bad Breath!
 
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My little one is 9 1/2 months old now and I have been feeding her the NV freeze dried medallions. She LOVES them, but her breath seems to smell really bad lately. I am wondering if it is from the food or something else. She only gets grain free, all natural treats and drinks distilled water in addition to her NV food. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

My girl is 3 yrs old, I have tried treats for breath and nothing works. Any suggestions?

Since your little one is on such a good food I would bet it's a retained puppy tooth. I couldn't believe how horrible my babies' breath would get when they were about to lose a tooth:eek:

I just bought some stuff that you put in their water. I've only been using it for a day, but I already see an improvment.

I would think you would be wise to find out what's causing the problem, instead of trying to cover it up. I agree with Chachi, it may be a retained baby tooth. Yorkies are one breed that rarely loose all their baby teeth on their own, and as a result often have a double row of teeth. This double row causes crowding and food can build up between the teeth causing an odor. The odor is just an indication of trouble; you need to get the baby tooth removed, because this can lead to early rotting of the teeth and other problems. Most people have this done when their pets are neutered. A yorkie must have it's teeth brushed if you want it to keep them, it's not that difficult, and there are no shortcuts. Try to brush them three times a week.
