Kibble vs Canned This is really a two part question, 1. If you had to feed only one which would it be Kibble or Canned and why one over the other 2. If you were going to feed Raw Medallions as one meal but could not do Raw for both then what would the other meal be Kibble or canned? Thanks for your input!:) Amie:animal-pa |
Kibble definatley it is less messy and helps keep thier teeth strong and cleaner. As far as kibble goes we love Wellness, but my other choice would be lifes abundance |
1) Canned, bc it is superior in nutritional quality (less processed meat), more moisture 2) Canned :) |

Kibble . Because Canned is not good for their teeth. If you are planning on brushing teeth after each meal then canned is fine. :aimeeyork Willie's mom that is what I have been told/taught. They need kibble in their diet, and it is healthier in the long run. :aimeeyork |

There are soooo many vets that say no canned and that is fine but the research isn't very solid in this area. There "could" be a connection between canned causing more build-up but kibble really doesn't clean teeth. If that were the case, hard food would clean our teeth. Whatever you feed, they have to be brushed. Then there are the positives to feeding canned like the moisture content and less processing. Just as a side note, Ellie's vet has a special interest in dentistry and she supports me feeding homecooked (wet). Ellie's nutritionist, Dr. Remillard (she is Googleable:)), also doesn't see a problem with it. |
I had switched from kibble to what I thought was a high quality canned food, but had all sorts of problems with Annie....it seemed too rich for her, maybe to high in protein??. The vet had me home cook for a while, then I started her on Merrick's dry Grammy's Pot Pie flavor. It's the only dry she will eat (softened with a little warm water). I had tried Blue Buffalo, Canidae and Wellness before that and ended up feeding it to the stray cat that has adopted me !! |
thanks for your opinions gang!!!:) |
