Losing Teeth and Behavior My sweetie is starting to lose baby teeth. She just turned 5 months old. When they start losing teeth, does their behavior change a little? I noticed Triss' ears are drooping, shes a little more sleepy, not as playful, and she's been avoiding water. Then, as soon as one of her teeth fell out on the floor, she started playing and chewing on her bully stick. Could teething be causing her behavior changes and droopy ears, or does this sound wrong and maybe I should take her to the vet? I thought she may be depressed because we just moved to a new house. What is your experience with this? |

The new house may have something to do with it. I know that even when we leave our dog with my wife's parents for a few days, he's a little out of it when he comes home. But don't worry too much. The teething goes by in about 4-6 weeks, and they get used to the discomfort and start acting normal again just a few days after those first teeth fall out. |
Millies first tooth fell out 2 days ago, and another yesterday. This past three days she has had constant potty accidents. She normally goes outside, or or newspaper, but the past few days I have been finding puddles everywhere, and far more than normal. I was at work today, and my mum came in at 1 and 3.30 to let her outside for a while. She had went on the newspaper at this stage, and went outside when she was let out. My hubby came home at 4.15pm and she had pooped 3 times in her pen, and even in her crate. She has NEVER pooped in her crate before. I hope its just the teething. She is almost 6 months. |

Scooter's teething right now too, lately I've been so upset that he's been having accidents again in the house, but if that's from teething I probably should just wait for it to pass. How long do the accidents last? He's been going on the carpet literally 5 mins before I usually take him out to walk - so frustrating! He also isn't eating very much, but I think it might hurt to chew his kibble up because when I give him some wet food he gobbles it up! And he hasn't been as energetic as usual... does their behaviour usually change when they are teething? Gosh I hope this passes quickly! |
Triss didn't have as much energy for a while. She lost 3 teeth in one day, then the next day she seemed back to normal. She also avoided kibble some days, and some days she didnt. I think those days it was hurting more. |

awe. Fiona lost 3 teeth as soon as she turned 5 months old, and it didnt even seem to phase her. I think i have an abnormal doggie! lol |
Wow, I am so glad I found this thread! Rocco has been losing teeth for 2 weeks...but we have only had him for 3 weeks. He took to pad training great, but when he's battling a tooth out he does seem different! He will use his tongue to work them out and then spit them on our laps, floor, couch, etc. He seems to be sleeping more, I guess that's the teething? |

Poor babies, it must be so tough! Has anyone's pup ever had any problems with swallowing their teeth? The one's he's lost are so sharp, I would think all of those jagged edges would hurt their tummies. My daughter had an easier time losing her teeth! |
